đŸ”¶ Philips SHP9500

Watch I am going to do all this work modding this headphone and suddenly the shp9600 is finally going to decide to release alongside the new x3 and completely put all my efforts out the door

Just gotta pull and the cloth headband will come off

Yeah, thats what I was mentioning. This headphone is very mod friendly for such a cheap one and sounds good. Pretty sure I can definitely manage to swap the wrap onto the shp9500. Beyer headband wraps are like $12 too just ultra soft I prefer the way they feel over that shp9500 cloth

This headphones tuning is oddly similar to Beyer headphones when you pad swap it. The Dekoni Beyer hybrids have a similar sound to the 1990 with the balanced pads. I wonder if the balanced pads would have the same effect on the shps as they do with the 1990

You have a 1990 or T1 in house to try that theory?

Not anymore unfortunately. Returned the T1 because of distortion issues and beyer wouldn’t help me and I sold my 1990 to get funds to buy T1. I’ve ordered the Audeze LCD2 Classics instead.

Thats rather unfortunate that beyer refused to help you out. You went from a bright headphone to the dark audeze? well alright then lol.

Im just curious to try them out. Audeze has yet to fulfill my order so I’ll think about whether or not I should give the T1 another shot

Audezes are rather weird to me
They tend to have Dark tones but a very rich full sound to them. Still I am rather interested in the modifications to this headphone right now. I look forward to the shp9600 even more so now( or the x3 if they can fix the muddy bass and other issues ) though I do hope we can modify the new variations easily too that sure as hell would be nice.

What I will probably do though is build one of these up and then sell it or give it to a buddy then pick up the next variation more so if it can be modded. If it cannot be modified I will probably end up grabbing a thieaudio phantom or T50RP or T60RP maybe in argon form and sitting there tinkering with them. I really find appreciation in headphones that have a wide variety of sound signatures makes me appreciate them more

Gonna be interesting. So, I decided to place a full on order for multiple parts as well as a shp9500, paid $48 for it not bad, for myself and even the SHP9600 which should be shipping next month. The designs look similar so I am going off a hunch that the mods will work the same way as well here. The new variation is currently being said to be bassier with more head clamp and priced at $120, I paid $110 after shipping. I ordered my FIRST PAIR of zmf pads, yay?, was looking for velour but I guess they don’t do velour? So, I went with VEGAN SUEDE UNIVERSE pads from them as good lord do they look comfortable they should fit both my beyers and the shp so should be good if I don’t like it well
you will probably see me selling them on here somewhere or ebay lmao. Ordered a spare pair of Tygr paids for the shp9500 as well alongside both styles of 3d rings just incase, will sell whatever one I don’t keep of the rings. Ordered a replacement headband cushion, $20, for beyer headphones as it should work fine. Did not order the closed back mod, I don’t plan to enclose my sound soo eh? though I have pondered the thought of modifying that attachment with some strong thin velcro instead of sealing it with an adhesive of some sort. Also, saw this https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Portable-Bluetooth-Transceiver-Nintendo/dp/B089PYFLBN/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?tag=hififorums-20&th=1 which will work for the shp as well comes with a damn microphone in it and both receiver and transmitter together. Not sure if that ones good though.

Hey guys quick question. Wana make sure I actually ordered the right pads I didn’t think abou it at the time. I want a pad that can fit beyers and the shp9500. Which zmf pad size is that? I placed an order on the universe but not even sure if that was the right one. Anyone got some clarifications? Also, I would think perforated suede is probably better for shp9500 and beyerdynamic right?

universe will be a tad loose on beyer headphones but perfect for the shps modhouse adapters. The ori pads fit perfectly on beyers.

Says they are the thinner pads too
 hoping not too thin
Says they fit beyers from when I searched it. SO should be ok? Otherwise I will have to sel them and buy the right pair lol

Those are oval right? not what I am wanting honestly.

They’ll be just fine. The unis are about as thick as the xl brainwavz pads.

No the ori pads are round

looks kind of oval to me.

Alright yeah thats fine as long as they fit then. Never was a big fan of those extremely thick pads.

Nope they’re round.

Alright I gotcha. well, I will give the universe a shot and if they just aren’t right I will sell them and grab the ORI suede then. I bought the non perforated to potentially increase the bass of the shp9500 but also use it on some other headphones as well. Read for the pads when they were on drop that they are compatible with a lot of headphones when you buy the universe. Hopefully they work out. I already know I probably should have bought perforated suede as thats a general rule of thumb if you are pad swapping a velour headphone but whatever neutral brights with neutral bass never interested me all that much
 More bass is better

Still waiting on the damn modhouse adapters to come in
should be tuesday. Got the rest of the stuff in though. Going to try the headband change later tonight

The perf suedes have a similar Fr to the stock pads but with a tad bit more bass. Perf lambs have a bit more slam. Hybrids from brainwavz and dekoni have a V shaped signature. Solid Suedes are similar to the hybrids but the bass gets a bit boomy and treble is a bit less pronounced. The eikon suedes I really liked with the shps cause they were very enjoyable to listen to.

The thicker the pads the less sharp the treble is.

right well
sadly the headband from the dt will not fit this
its too small doesn’t wrap all the way around. Will look into alternatives later.

Yea see I want more bass
not just more padding and same frequency.

this is fine as long as it doesn’t kill the treble. I can equalize the bass if need be.

Interesting though I never was a fan of hybrids.

aren’t those like much bigger pads? Don’t think they will fit a lot of headphones. They are also more expensive from the looks of it. Honestly I am unsure which would be better Vegan suede or suede
