By semblance do you mean like similarity or appearance?
Actually the older magni 3 and modi 3 could have a fairly harsh and sometimes bright sound lol
The new Asgard 3 isn’t like that though
True story, I mention that in the review. The magni 3 is a double edge sword. Great bass Impact and thump.Then it can get crazy bright in the high end. I don’t notice it as much with the He4xx though. Other headphones will be really hard to listen to on some songs.

Ohhhh ok yeah i don’t want that! I was going to say everything i’ve read so far regarding the 3+ sounds positive and that it’s a “fun” sound.
I’ll have to see if i can find some comparison of the Magni 3+ and Asgard 3.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to poop on the magni 3, its is cheap, has tons of power and really for casual listening its good enough. If the Heresy fixes the compression issue, I don’t see why it couldn’t be as good as the Atom, or Archel 2. I haven’t received one for review, but I’m about to touch bases with Schiit again.
I did discuss buying a Heresy anyway and selling the Magni3 cheep to recoupe some cost.
Well typically we would use a de-esser for that or do some eq tricks. Compression can adjust placement in a mix, emphasize or deemphasize aspects in sound. Limiters which are somewhat similar to compressors in a sense can overall soften a mix if needed. It can also transparently boost the gain if needed. Also you can use compression to color the mix to your liking. There’s much more you can do but those are a few examples. Also it depends on how you use it and what compressors you use on what can give a positive or negative impact

Right now off all the amps I have on hand this is how I rank them for my personal enjoyment with the 4xx. Maybe that can give you an idea of the sound differences.
- Tie- Sp200 , Archel 2 better overall sound.
- Liquid Spark- more mid focused, slightly warmer mids, different good sound with vocals
- Magni 3- Better thump and initial impact vs the Spark and Archel 2, very slightly larger sound stage/ imagining.
Im a pretty casual listener for sure. I don’t own any “high-definition” audio sources. Hell, i dont even have a single song on my PC lol! I’ll be using this for gaming, Spotify and some movies/videos occasionally. I just know it’s time for an amp and dac and want something solid and “decent”.
I wish there were more places one could demo this stuff live and in person.
Yeah if I was looking for the best balance of clean yet a bit of body and warmth it would be the Asgard 3 (at least when using a 4xx)

I’m going to look up some reviews on YT over lunch. I didnt know it was THAT much bigger than the Modi/Magni lol yikes… approaching “full sized” headphone amp territory now.
Me too, I’d like to try the Asgard 3 but unless Schiit sends one, or I buy one its hard. I already have about 5 Solid State amps…lol smh. Its getting harder to justify all of them. Plus I’m waiting to get the Archel 2.5 pro.
Yeah, it is larger, so that is something to consider. I think that the 3+ stack or the liquid spark and dac would be more realistic for you

I use AmazonMusic HD to get most of my loss less music streaming. Its cheaper. I still have Spotify as well, but if you want access to higher quality audio for the cheap check out Amazon music HD.
When I said casual listening I mean listening while you in thought, or working on something else not focused on the music. If that’s the case, what you wan’t. I don’t think you’ve been spoiled by the higher tier audio products yet. You’ll likely enjoy it and not notice the small nuance difference that bring audio to the next level.
If you want to kick back throw on headphones and enjoy some music, then get at least the Heresy.
