Rant thread - share your grievances, not just audio

What shade of blue is the best? Same as asking what headphone is best for me with no qualification or use-case or preference info.

Unfortunately, many are either not confident in their own ability to learn and think critically or simply lazy or both. The same are also easily swayed by false narratives and thus here we are in the global position we’re in.

I don’t hate it but it annoys me and there seems to be more and more new threads asking ‘invalid’ questions lately.

This is why we have communities such as the one here on HFGF, to help guide/dissuade people when they are new and aren’t sure how to get their feet wet. Anyone just trying to bypass the process or unwilling to even try to learn deserves to be shown the door, IMO. Everyone starts somewhere but lazy is lazy. It kinda goes back to a mini discussion we had about employment and education the other day, on the whole we need to foster a culture where fear of failure or learning should be minimized.

Agreed. I know the day I’ll die, it’s the day I stop learning. Fingers crossed I have much more failing yet to do but for now I’ll just sit back and enjoy the amazing bass and overall soundscape produced by these Martilos

The more ‘AI’ infiltrates online communities the harder it has become to deduce if it’s a well-meaning newbie or a troll or a silicon bot.

Problem here is there are those HERE that WILL also say something is the best and don’t bother looking anymore.

Yes but the difference is if someone has tried it they can say, in their opinion - always assume this, that it is the ‘best’. We’re ranting about people asking for a recommendation of the ‘best’ with no other info…

Best headphone amplifier, expert recommendastions - Off-Topic - HifiGuides Forums

Your example is vastly better than What are the best bookshelf speakers for bass?

At least he’s read and learned, narrowed it to two devices and listed some parameters, budget, etc. The other is just a shot in the dark looking for best bass out of bookshelf speakers. Come on.

No, you are incorrect respectfully he has not learned and that is why he asked here. His choices after being told what was best for quality and sound was narrowed down and they are CLEARLY not the best in either department. Also another poster HERE advised him to choose one of those because it was clearly the BEST. These are what bugs me.

Ok. I was just giving him some credit for the effort. The other type ‘What’s the BEST iem?’ and nothing else is worthless, invalid question to me

Understand completely. People are naturally uneducated and tend to ask the DUMBEST questions instead of thinking first.

; it was a simple question not hard to understand, idc if I’m kicked off this site bc you all seem like a bunch of stuck up snobby pricks, bc you hate your shit life doesn’t mean you gotta attack others. GF’D.

Really? Was there something that I said to offend you? Or are you being general in your accusation.

Thats just the thing. It’s NOT just a simple question.
For audio related devices your hearing comes into play for the final judgment of how good something is. And nobody hears what you hear. Our ears are shaped differently and our brains also interpret audio differently. That makes judging wether or not an audiodevice is ‘the best’ highly subjective. Something can have the best specs on the market but still sound like absolute dogshit.

That is why you are getting pushback on these questions. They are so vague and general that it’s basically impossible to answer. It almost feels like you’re trolling.

Most people here will jump at the opportunity to give you recommendations and make you spend more money than you should, but you need to give us enough info to work with.

A lot of the “what are the best” blah, blah posts are AI scripted BOT templates ie spam.
I’ve cleaned out/removed a few of the offenders, if anyone thinks posts are being
generated by BOT’s please flag them so we can address any dodgy goings on.

:beers:

Hmm, it seems like Hifigo is doing a sale. How do I know?
The hand up the ass of all their drones has started moving again, resulting in posts and writing that is so far off their normal conversational habits that it’s genuinely eerie to watch. Not even MK Ultra was as ridiculous as this.

Imagine spending over 1k for a phone and then an update comes that blackmails you into buying a sub to use a feature that was both free and heavily marketed…FUCK YOU SONY

I’m with you on this. This criminal behavior is becoming more prevalent across multiple industries. With Motorcycles for instance, BMW will install a feature set on a bike, but you will have to pay a sub fee if you want to actually use it. So they charge 27,000 - 45,000 bucks for a bike, only to force you to pay hundreds more a year just to use the damn feature set. Thieves they are. And now other makes are starting to do it. It’s really starting to piss me off.

You will own nothing and be happy!

And you know they are selling all the telemetry they receive from the bike OR at least the terms and conditions of use allow them to do so.
