Rant thread - share your grievances, not just audio

the problem THERE is i only have a laptop on my bed… so i cant do that

It’ll be fine. You’ll just have to watch you don’t burn yourself or your bed. No problem, right? :joy:

and i’d need a DAC that can get a great high quality sound along with the tube amp (hell maybe just a little bear could work for that)

Maybe, but the little bear is a hybrid tube, so it might not provide the kind of improvement an OTL tube like the darkvoice would. Also any decent dac like the topping d10 would be fine.

In the mean time, may be try a bump in the sub bass to add a little kick to the sound.

5000 people work at my factory. But we can’t have concert’s.

I think after the first few hours I recommend the ifi black label nano its not Too expensive. Sounds a bit different. and has a a powerful amp to boot until you can get a different amp.

MICRO BLACK LABEL
god damn it. I like Ifi’s stuff but my god their naming conventions are suuuuuck

the question is nano BL or hipdac

Hipdac doesn’t have a lot of power I feel. I feel you’d be better off choosing between the micro BL or the zen dac the counter point is that the zen dac doesnt have a battery or run off the bus so you have to plug it in
Ultimately I chose the micro despite the added cost was for portability. and the fact that getting 4.4 pentacon adapters for my balanced headphones are a pain in the ass compared to 3.5mm

Apparently Youtube is killing community submitted captions because of “under-utilization”. Most of the translations on YouTube exist only because of this feature. There’s a few foreign language creators I personally won’t be follow any longer because of this. … (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Judging by this petition, there’s good number of people against. I suppose there’s a chance they will change course

Its entirely a profit based decision. They’re taking it away and replacing it with a paid for feature down the line is the suspected reasoning.

What paid feature would be a substitute for crowd sourced captioning?

A professional translation/captioning service either contracted out by google or offered internally by them
(There was a kerfuffle a little while back on Twitter with some of the professional services because they outsource to freelancers and how they deliberately used gig economy logic to underpay them by a horrific degree)

I’d be very surprised if Google wanted to get into that business. Plus they cited 0.001% channel utilization as a reason for removing the feature

Just did a bit of digging. There’s always been a purchaseable caption/translate option for creators. Most relied of the public because the expense was too great for them, plus the option to create a contribute link for a private service to add theirs

As to their .001 percent stuff
Their metrics are skewed because of how much crap, repeats, and uploads from media channels flood their system and video numbers

well i am planning on getting hart audio cables instead of using the standard sennheiser cable and have more satisfaction with something easy and able to use those connectors… i will probably go with the BL anyway since it might be more useful for power… but with that do you think i should get a 4 pole TRRS 3.5mm from hart for that

Black Label is single ended. balanced cables are purely me future proofing and if I ever want a Dap to take with me around the house.

F*cking Monoprice europe not having the Liquid Spark in stock for months. Schiit stuff being very expensive here and also not in stock and most other interesting budget AMPs not being available where I live. Still waiting for an AMP to properly power my DT880, the E10K is doing ok but from what I’ve heard a better AMP makes them sound even better.

I feel your pain.
By the time you get Schiit or JDS Labs stuff in Europe after customs and currency conversions, they’re not that budget friendly.

At least we get cheaper British and other european brands than in the US.
Except Focal, they’re still expensive af.

I said this earlier in a difderent thread, but I recently ordered 3 units from Schiit’s official US website and even though I had to pay $58 for international FedEx, they were delivered in 6 days without any additional taxes whatsoever. So from my personal experience, I can say that Schiit is definitely an option for us. (I’m from the Netherlands as well, by the way.)

Well yeah but that’s a pretty big gamble. You’re paying $58 for shipping, already raising the price considerably, and then you have to be lucky enough to not also have to pay customs. It’s not impossible to get the gear, but paying $58 shipping for a single $99 Amp (I have no desire for more than one device from them) leads to substantial grief IMO :stuck_out_tongue:.
