Rant thread - share your grievances, not just audio

Vice grip ? Also, my GM electrical instructor told us replace the battery every 2yrs regardless. Do i listen no, but i think i learned my lesson from the last dead start.

Don’t mention batteries, we have 6 leisure/starter batteries 1 Starter and 2 bow thruster leisure/starter batteries on the barge…all need replacing every 2-3 years :grimacing::hot_face:

Sometimes it really gets me when I’m dealing with IC components. They’re way too small for my hands and sometimes the space in the PCB is also tight.

Minor grievance for now. My room this month is getting renovated in order to provide more room for the stuff that I have and right now I am sleeping downstairs at our living room, therefore I have no privacy for most of the time and I am pretty much limited on what I can do with my PC. (I cannot view some spicy stuff, if you catch my drift.)

For now, I have to endure it, until my room and the other things around the house are done being renovated, and I cannot even damn exercise on time because of that.

Finally got my new pc parts all in and every step is fighting me:

  1. Cpu cooler had wrong screws
  2. Cpu backplate was wrong
  3. Anti vibration fan mounts arent snug and slip in the slot
  4. Attached rear i/o shield was a god damn pain to line up right. ( I noticed when i was trying to ease it in my thumb was on the ram stick so i hope i didnt bend anything there )
  5. 24 pin lines directly up with the mobo tray support so it cannot be routed behind
  6. Usb 3.0 plug is so long it hits the front slides that are used to cover wires. Had to order a right angle connector.
  7. Usb type c header went in nice but i needed to reroute it so i had to pull hard to unplug it but when i replugged it back in it was not as snug and wobbles a bit so now i half think it broke by doing the normal plug in and out
  8. Front panel header has a quick connect, nice. That quick connect doesnt line up with the mobo connector and needs to be put into connector wire that fits the mobo, fine. That wire is stiff and lines up directly with the built in wire management, damn.
  9. Right angle plugs causing havoc. Ok maybe on an atx board but this e-atx board is too wide for it.
  10. M.2 was in the box but didnt have its protective packaging on ao it dropped out when i slid it out. Caught it between the table and my stomach and i hope i didnt fuck up a pin or something.
  11. My last pc going together so smooth and this one trying my patience has REALLY tried my patience.

Oh god, I had been there lol. Especially when you made a mistake of buying a case from a brand that is questionable. The cable management that I had with those back then sucked so bad, that I just pretty much bought a proper case from Silverstone, since Silverstone have a good enough reputation for their cases.

Also that case was getting in the way of the SATA ports from my motherboard, and you know what I did? I pretty much fucked up the piece blocking the SATA ports just to give way to the SATA cables that I have for my HDD and SSD. It really sucks and it can be a rookie mistake from time to time, despite me having years of building a PC.

So the remodel at work is FINALLY done… yay… Only, the merchandiser, who reports directly to someone on the division level (Store<District<Regional<Division), stated that because of some of the changes that where made by my Store Manager/Assistant Store Manager after they started showing up regularly(yesterday), our score dropped, and our Regional Manager (who already is an unpleasant woman from what I’m told) may be coming down on us. I’ve basically been the only person there through the whole damn thing. If you think I’m joking about the SM and ASM not being there, the merchandiser told his boss he didn’t know who they where and thought I was both. Sadly, knowing shit trickles down hill… It leaves me rather concerned about them coming down on me for things not being the way they where supposed to.

  1. They sent the wrong cpu mounting brackets and screws, again.

I’ve been out of the game for 6-7 years and really haven’t even been looking… And now that I’m really wanting to take a girl out, I’m stuck on “well… wtf am I supposed to do, particularly with COVID still a thing?”

Get a pro.

Get a pro?

Lady of the night.

I ment there’s an actual lady i personally know that I want to take out on a date, but between being single since January 25, 2014, and with everything being closed due to the pandemic, it makes planning shit out a bit more difficult.

Thats what i mean, get a pro cuts through all the red tape :+1:. saw a romote date story on MSM, dude was on one rooftop and shorty was on another, they had dinner like lady and the tramp. romance is not dead. The fuck kinda people are they !?

Excuse the emotional outburst hifi guides is family friendly but Z has a wide audience. Also the covid is getting to me too. My old lady is in another country so no fly since the whole thing started.

Have over for a cookout and showoff your audio/video.

I just lost a couple braincells reading this guy comparing the Airpod Max to a KPH7. Not even the same target consumer lol

Aimed for the moon, ended in the local pub.

How much is a McDonald’s cheeseburger…$1.00? Now, how much is a Red Robin cheeseburger…$5.00? So, I guess that it’s stupid to ever buy a Red Robin cheeseburger because there’s no way that it’s 5 times better than a McDonald’s cheeseburger, right?

This is the mentality of many audiophiles and it’s obviously stupid. While a $25 cheeseburger might sound crazy to most of us, so is a $150,000 car until you say it’s a Ferrari and then people go, “Oh, well yes, Ferrari!, of course!”, etc.

Most “foodies” can tell you why a $25 burger is better than a $5 burger and so on. Part of the enjoyment of the hobby is being educated and having a better understanding of your pursuit. Am I wrong here? Is audio different than wine or cigar connoisseurship?

In my experience, no.

A lot of people don’t have an ear at all just like many people don’t have a refined pallet or an eye for fashion, etc. (Just ask Zeos! I love the guy, but if he couldn’t hear a difference between Audeze Isine 10 and 20, then he has terrible hearing as the difference was night and day).

My point being that if you can afford better, then buy better. Don’t dump on things that you can’t afford because you’re too insecure to admit to yourself that you’re jealous and in need of validating your lot in life.

Besides, was there anything more annoying than seeing people like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and even Conan O’Brien driving Honda’s and Ford’s or flying coach? Give me a break! Stop being class warriors and give credit where it’s do to those manufacturers/designers who make cutting-edge products that (some of us at least) can appreciate.

I feel like there’s a toxic mentality in this hobby. Everytime there’s a premium product, those who can’t afford would scream on top of their lungs and say it’s a waste yadda yadda yadda, but at the same time those who have superiority complex would diss the budget audiophile. C’mon man, can’t we live together peacefully

And there was little old me thinking it was all about the music and not a game of Top Trumps :man_shrugging:…Love what I have and worked hard for it, I love having audiophile kit goals and will work harder to obtain them…I have absolutely no hate or envy for folks who have worked smarter or harder than me to have achieved their audiophile nivarna…life would be boring if you had everything you desired and could afford anything… :yin_yang:
