Yeah, problem was it was not on credit card. Here in my country most places give around 10% “discount” if you pay with money (boleto, similar to a bank transfer). Guess that’s something to consider from today onward.
I have already contacted a customer protection agency here, and issued the cancellation from the company. Apparently it’s a widespread problem, maybe a sudden closure or something else happened, but lots of people are popping up with similar issues.
In any case, thanks for the words of support, now I will follow with legal procedures and hope for the best.
I’m not saying it is the case here but I know that many companies kept taking orders as things got more and more difficult to source and more and more expensive.
In the case of some large companies (such as Yamaha as an example), they finally said “sorry, we can’t supply it” and proceeded to refund.
In the case of many small companies, they just don’t have the collateral to survive and can’t afford to refund nor can they supply. This results in them “disappearing”.
This obviously is not an excuse, if you can’t supply then don’t sell, but it is unfortunately something that has happened a lot over the past couple of years.
Not that I am making light of the difficulties folks in this thread have had (and some of you have really had some shit luck), but here is a reminder that even just dealing with retail it can get much worse:
Imagine ordering a custom gaming rig with todays rediculous GPU pricing, only to have the SI fold up and abscond with your money. No product, no refund, just down thousands of dollars while the “CEO” laughs his way to the bank.
Yeah that CEO in my opinion is one of those examples where I can define as your typical douchebag of the tech industry. Also it’s not helping him that much when he wears a friggin’ Star Lord jacket unironically, and the way he downplays or belittle that raffle winner was just unbearable for me to watch.
FFS that one was also salvageable, if only he admit that he fucked up and will proceed with the giveaway to be given to the one who won it in the first place.
Music mastering that includes clipping or other intentional “noise” component which sound like there’s something wrong with my audio chain…
Every fucking time, try a different source, different headphone, still there? ok.
I enjoy Kanye, but some of his mastering is a disgrace. But it’s super common, it’s not all clipping, some of it (I assume) going for a lo-fi grainy aesthetic (see Julia Jacklin - When The Family Flies In).
Trying to watch reviews of graphics cards is so frustrating right now, when looking into the cards that seem to be relatively well priced (for the current market) all I end up seeing is “this is terrible, they want how much for this card?!” etc. All I want is to be able to make my own mind up about whether the card is worth it for the price not from someone who is in a completely different market from me (US compared to the UK) constantly going on about how cards X number of years ago outperform it, completely forgetting to mention that the card that they are talking about from those years ago was a TOTL card that is going for an inflated price and the card I’m looking at is a mid range card!
I can’t get a used card because I’m getting it through work and I have to buy from a store, so that’s why I’m looking into new cards. I’ve resorted to just watching actual performance comparison videos to be able to judge the performance differences myself. Although some of those channels really annoy me when they start doing all their performance comparisons with games using Ray Tracing at maximum in 1440p for cards that are designed to run at higher frame rate 1080p or 1440p 60fps, you’re just severely hampering performance to show something that people won’t really use since it tanks the framerate (especially on AMD cards).
Also on another note, the whole hate by reviewers about the 6500xt annoys me too… just because they cut down some features that make it irrelevant for video editing doesn’t make it a bad card necessarily, at least you can get it (in the UK at least) for MSRP and it does an ok job at 1080p gaming for being a £180 new card.
Somehow i feel that watching reviews is pointless. Since the specs are usually available and many many comparison charts if you know what the “goal” is you want from the card.
The pricing cannot be compared anymore what they were few years back.
Market price is market price, some buy it and then the price is right. Less cards the more they cost.
The climbing of prices in general and on other products as well really starts to show… and effect.
Already ~$3k in the hole for medical bills, need to be looking at doing my front brakes and bearings, and now… new fucking tires. When life hits you, it hits you all at fucking once.
I’m an architect and a general contractor. Since switching to contracting in 2012 I’VE GOTTEN A FLAT FROM A NAIL OR SCREW ON EVERY SINGLE JOB! << please overlook the fact that, technically, I’m responsible for policing the site >>
About 3 months ago, on the day I took my ie900s to UPS to return them, I noticed that my tire had a sheet metal screw! Drove them to the tire store to get it repaired… and $800 later emerged with new tires…
My mother used to be an architectural drafter.
I can at least say in my case that at least I only ended up replacing two tires. Already replaced the other two January last year. Ended up making it match and took the tire that wasn’t punctured and made it the spare. Guy at the shop was saying the spare was the original spare (it’s a 2002 Ford Ranger, so the damn thing was 20 years old). It’s more the massive medical bills after putting the axe in my foot, still needing to properly replace my work boots, having just gotten my bank account and credit card back in check from missing two weeks of work (thanks to said injury), trying to save to get my own place rather then renting what’s effectively a storage room(there’s stuff in here that hasn’t been touched since 2010), gas prices have been skyrocketing, my brakes are starting to squeak periodically, only to get a nail in my tire and not have a reliable spare to fall back on. Shit just got a little fucked all at once.
It’s one of those days again, shitty sleep, anxiety, rough mood and my left thigh in a slight pain. A really ideal start for your typical monday, but hey it could have been much worse.
The biggest problem with getting a new phone… Getting everything set up all over again.
So my S21 started giving me issues where it would inexplicably stop allowing me to access the internet. Just randomly out of the blue, and it kept getting worse. I’d still show full bars, and there was no indication beyond nothing requiring the internet would load. It kept getting worse with time too. Network settings reset? Nope. While in safe mode? Nope. New SIM? Nope.
Ended up moving to a Pixel 6 Pro. We’ll see how this goes, but getting everything set up all over again is a pain in the ass.
Yeah that is every new, the pain in the ass of setting everything up along with Google’s time wasting bull crap added. This is why I want to get a phone that does not waste a lot of time, just boot it up and use your phone accordingly on what you want for it. Also it’s not helping much when most of the damn new phones does not have a single headphone jack and fuck me for sticking to wired audio instead of getting a bluetooth.
Yeah no, I am not getting a damn phone with no headphone jack on it, for to me, bluetooth is still a convenience factor and the damn bluetooth transmitter I got is crap, meaning it freaking disconnects every time even though it is fully charged, therefore makes a strong case for myself that I should not do bluetooth anymore.
For me, camera quality and battery life are my two top properties. I’ve become so accustomed to the better quality of a dedicated DAC/Amp that I’m more okay without the headphone jack. My biggest complaint is how expandable storage is going away.
Apple does the same shit as Google, so there’s really no getting away from it, unless you really wanna go for a flip phone.
I feel your pain. That is why I have such a death grip on this old V40. It may not be the newest or the fastest thing out there, but it is solid. The thing just works, and it does fantastic audio. So I have no desire for a “new” phone. Seems to me they are just getting worse and worse, they are taking more features away that matter to folks like us, and yet they are more expensive than ever. No thanks!
As for Bluetooth - I used to really crap on it. But the V40 changed my mind. I connect to the M200 DAC in the bedroom system with it and it is truly wonderful. LDAC is a very good protocol. It never drops or hesitates, and it streams in hi res. Using my Beyer Lagoon BT headphones is a joy at work. Yeah, I’m OK with Bluetooth now.
Last time i did a phone swap from Android to Android.
New phone asked (google app probably) Bring your data from old phone. Well, Yes.
Connect the old and new device, done. Transfer. Boom it had everything moved.
Even the background pictures and app icons moved where they were on old phone!!! Mindblown…
It was easy, pretty fast and literally. New phone was like the old one.
Problem for me was I had to do it at work as I needed at least all my work stuff on the new phone, and I was stuck in a room without good signal. Beyond that, it wanted to redownload and install the apps not already on the new phone all over again
One thing down… So many more found to go… Brakes and bearings? Done. What do I have to do? Let’s see…
A) Left and right upper control arms and ball joints($104 each), followed by an alignment (boots are torn, and it’s just easier to swap the assembly rather then try just doing the ball joint)
B) fuel line repair(3 parts, each $22), as the quick disconnects to the fuel filter are damaged, though still connected
C) Fuel filter replacement ($8.50)
D) Oil pan gasket replacement ($34) leaking enough for it to be all crusty under the truck… I just have to jack the engine up to be able to get the oil pan off
E) transmission filter replacement ($33 + ~$10/qt of fluid)
F) replace the seal at the back of the transmission where the drive shaft is connected ($19) there’s a leak from the boot
G) replace tail pipe($31.50), as there’s a significant bend creating unnecessary restriction, meaning the muffler($32) and flange gasket($19) will also need to be replaced
H) New timing cover and gasket($240), along with new water pump($76), and fresh antifreeze (~$13-32/gallon and I need 4) slight leak, but there’s still a leak.
Well… You know what they say, when it rains, it pours
Hey I feel your pain in a similar but different way. I lowsided my beloved motorcycle on Thursday as I was pulling out of the dealer after getting new tires fitted and an inspection done. With the tires being brand new they can be very slick so you have to take it easy with them until they bed/scrub into clean rubber. I gave it too much gas turning out from the dealer and whoop there went the rear. Fairing damage, bent shift lever and a broken mirror. Minimal damage really. A little bit of road rash for me but otherwise fine. There was/is more emotional damage than anything else. My bike is a 25th anniversary model so it has a special color scheme that only came on that year of bike. Honda no longer produces the fairings so I can’t get oem replacements. There are repros from china but I have no idea how close they are to the originals. At least I could just go right back across the street to the dealer to get the repairs done and a once over.
I hate when stuff just snowballs like crazy when you think there’s only a few things wrong.
I get my truck is old, and it’s over 210k miles… I just wanna take as best care of her as I can. The old, “I take care of her, she takes care of me” adage.
