🔷 RebelAmp

Has anyone used the Rebel preamp as input to another amp with a bad potentiometer? My thx 887 is just starting to get a bit raspy. I know from experience it will only get worse. Also wondering what volume you would keep the host amp on. Looked like Zeos kept his 789 at the 12 o’clock position when he was testing the sound differences using the Rebel’s preamp as a substitute for the 789’s crappy potentiometer.

Would think you’d want to use balanced with this amp.
I’d probably just be looking at a simple XLR in/out potentiometer rather than a $600+ Class A amplifier.

I use a few Schiit Sys (rca) in a few different use-cases and though the pot would seem to be the same as Magni - I notice that while my Magni’s pot has gotten noisy, the multiple Sys are a-okay. Sys gives added benefit of an input switch as well.

why not max volume on the host amp, you dont want to add reduction on two devices unless there’s a reason to

Rebel is now offering free shipping till the end of the month. At least that helps offset the price hike.

If you were on the fence, probably not a bad time to get it before a disruption could start…

Disruption ( putting it mildly)has begun.Need to hold off for now.

My understanding from another site is that there are obviously no shipments going out. However Artem will try and find local help if you have any issues with his amp. [email protected]

Fyi… Contacted Artem and he told me that they located their families to a safer city and so far they are relatively safe.
He thanked me for my concern.
Great guy.

Update Fyi…
Artem told me a few days ago that he is still relatively safe. I had greater concern because of the increase in bombing in the west.

I notice that my Rebel amp seems to mellow over time having a bit more richness. Even after 6 months of usage. This doesn’t seem to be the case with a bunch of Thx and Geshelli amps that i use. Does anyone else notice this?

I don’t have the Rebel anymore but tagging along for pure interest sake.

What do you mean by the amp mellowing over time?

A bit more bass and the highs smoother more rounded. Sounds a bit darker is the way i perceive it. Not a huge difference but noticeable. Really makes my sennheiser 660S sound more like my 6xx now but with more detail and separation.

I really only noticed the initial shift after about 48-72 hours, what you’re describing. As a daily driver I can’t compare changes over time since it’s been so gradual, if at all, just that I like where it’s at.

Just wondering if you still keep the Rebel on 24/7. I have gone back and forth on keeping it constantly on. I do think it sounds slightly smoother and tighter when on for long periods.
The amp never gets more than slightly warm. I do not notice any sonic difference with thx and similar amps when kept on for long periods.

mine’s always on

Looks like Rebel will be at CanJam cali

I just put a trade together for a Rebel amp. The price was right and I was curious.

Finally manage to fix it. Archel really gave the RebelAmp the kick it needed to fully drive Arya while preserving all the very fine details from Qutest. I can now fully recommend this system.

Finally using my Rebel. It really is a big box. Nice sound. I was surprised that I had to put it into mid-gain for my Elex’s. Playing them at about 10:00. Full sound with good bass.

I am jealous of the green one above though.
