Recommended IEM Cables

Cable Ranking tab at the very bottom of the page… He’s got them all rated and measured. I’m actually trying to help him flesh out his list.

Just ordered two of both, in case the stock gets off. Can you also recommend some 500usd gold tips? :joy:

lol, not recommended if you are married and wish to stay that way.

Appearently you can get your own cables done with that ConX connector

https://www.effectaudio.com/accessories/conx-connector.html

The connectors look to be $50 USD and not sure what the retermination fee would be, but if it is reasonable I might do that.

I’m new to IEMs, but it occurred to me one of their prime use cases is out and about in the world.

That said, why aren’t there more audio addicts like us using cables that have a mic and playback buttons built in? Is it because mic IEM cables aren’t of good quality or they don’t look cool or something else?

People are surprised at how Chord released these things that you plug into empty ports… how long have we been seeing several thousand dollar cables? Over 10,000 dollar cables?

I don’t know why, but people just do not understand that this “fine” audio industry is a business. Business is about money, and people are surprised to find that the majority of the business is about finesse.

If I had to describe the audio industry in one word, it would be finesse.

Imagine if you could literally make cables and make several thousands of dollars. Would you pass?

The reality is that small fish do not survive. They put a lot of effort into performance, quality — the true values — but the big fish are the big fish. Large investments, a great amount of marketing… the true high-end audio industry is no joke (even though it’s nothing more than a joke). People are serious about income, and will make the right decisions to attract those who are not afraid to spend.

I, like many one this forum, care about the true values. But I cannot overlook the reality of a business and this industry. While we are on here complaining and making fun of these companies, they are making 6 or 7 figures a year.

Per usual, Voja ends up ranting :man_shrugging:t2:

Having a mic means it will have a higher reistance as well as being another point of failure.
(also costs more for the cable makers to include a mic.)

Thank you. I figured there was a very good reason why it’s not more prevalent among enthusiasts.

Personally I tend to try and use the best tool for the job at hand. For phone calls I have a plantronics earpiece with a far better mic then any I have seen in a cable and pristine frequency response is not really needed on a call.

Man I wish I can get Xinhs here like easy or something, or else I might get an AliExpress account as well just to have the opportunity to get one. I mean for the price and quality that you get from those are just a good deal, plus it makes your budget IEMs look expensive with those used.

I had no idea the Graphene cable was normally 160 bucks! Woah, it has been heavily discounted for quite some time.

I have 4 so far. I just didn’t know what the base price was.

Wow the price shoot up
I’ve seen before sale was 80 plus
On sales was 60 plus

Yeah, I think I got mine for around 60 bucks. I had no idea it was reduced over 50%. No wonder I like this cable so much. lol

Well Looks like I will be putting the A6 cable from Rikudou’s list to immediate service when it arrives since Thieaudio’s answer to multi connector is not finicky like Moondrop’s but honestly it is also not really a great answer either. Or maybe the A12 2 core with it’s pretty color might look better.
