RikudouGoku's Database (IEMs/Earbuds/Headphones Ranking list)

I just wish earbuds were more practical for me, more of the time.

I’ve experienced the same since Berserker 1’s arrived. Bought them for one particular time of the day where breaking the seal repeatedly was inconvenient and they ended up staying in my ears most of the day.

Kind of a random question but do the effect of tuning foams (the high-density ones Riku recommends in this case) change depending on where it’s placed in the IEM? For example, placing the tuning foam in the tips VS at the very end in the IEM nozzle VS further down the nozzle?

It should make a difference. Although I always put it at the top of the nozzle so there is minimum risk of it falling into the iem and make it hard to remove (probably wont happen but…).

Hey guys, any suggestions for a good looking color to be used with my Gen 2/Val39 shells? I am gonna have to order more and wanted to add some other colors than just my clear and light blue.

Was thinking of adding Light red at least.

Maybe purple would look good?

Some sample pics I got:

Gotta say the EX800ST definitely hits the sweet spot for my basshead needs as an IEM. Good price to performance ration compared to the ASG 2.5. Especially for something that won’t be used as often. Awkward fit though as they tend to angle down and the seal seems to be hard to maintain. Still need to tip roll possibly and try a larger size. Right now have medium FA Type E.

In some ways I actually prefer it over the ASG 2.5. ASG seemed more recessed in the mids to highs. I prefer the bass shelf roll off of the EX800ST also. Out of curiosity @Rikudou_Goku is your EQ with or without the tape mod. Also my god the Q5K is plenty. I can’t imagine the ear bleeding damage these would bring with more power and I’m not even running balanced.

Add your Berserker 1 and soon to be 2 and I’m set for basshead level portal listening.

My PEQ is without tape mod, specifically with the foam in the nozzle removed.

OMG! I don’t have the foams off but, I small tweak to your PEQ and my memories are floating. This tuning instantly brings me back to the skating rink. My wife and meet there and spent every Friday night at it for years. Got a lot of memories there that I hold dearly. I don’t even care if it’s audiophile or not. This is faithful reproduction to this music just as my memories remember. Hard hitting deep bass without super recessed vocals. Think I’m gonna go pull out my skates and do some laps around the block to the below track.

haha, if you are still in stock, you probably might want to increase the upper-mids/treble more than I did.

Those, try increasing the gains and/or lessen the reduction.

Even stock your 4000 and 4500 and adjustments were a bit much for me. Maybe it’s the volume I’m listening at. Had to tame them a bit. I could probably spent more time finding something slightly better but, honestly I’m alrighty enjoying it. Ja Rule and 50 Cent never sounded better in an IEM for me. This sets only intention was more bass without the recessed vocals of the ASG 2.5 and to be cheaper on finances for occasional use. Tape mod was already a winner for me. So the fact your PEQ helped me squeeze more out of it is a solid win for me. Especially after scoring these for $135. Not sure I want to mess with taking the foam out. Definitely feel way better with this purchase. Had a lot buyers remorse after buying the ASG.

This EQ is insane with Progressive Psy. Definitely my favorite of three you shared. It’s also crazy how ridiculously wide the soundstage is even after EQ. My mind is in ecstasy.
