yeah, I am also assuming that @hawaiibadboy is in the same boat as I am.
Burning bridges like BGGAR’s it’s a shot on the foot… Lol
Burning bridges is fun… Fire is always fun.
Jokes aside… honestly any reviewer who is doing it professionally better be willing to torch all the bridges of Maddison County if needed. The only thing a reviewer has is their integrity, once that is spent it is nearly impossible to get back.
Just as a note on the FD5s – and I have seen others who feel the same way – I don’t think I’m treble insensitive, there are plenty of IEMs where I could just not deal with consonants (t,s, ts, ch). But whatever tips I’ve tried on the FD5 (always with wide nozzles) I haven’t had the least issue with treble. It genuinely wouldn’t cross my mind that it could be an issue for the set if I hadnt read it everywhere and scratched my head.
So it could come down to the shape of my ear canals, or a fluke set, but I don’t think people are necessarily shilling because they don’t perceive the treble as hot.
I see the objective spikes in the graph, but maybe they’re just balanced out by the bass for me?
Or maybe crucial – could be volume. I’ve never amplified them, always just from my phone so far. Never maxed out volume, probably 80% tops (not that it helps to give a clear idea of dB or anything)
Again I’m not saying the diaphragm doesn’t put out treble as per graphs, but a few people, from whatever in-between acoustic process alters it, genuinely don’t perceive it. I have no problem accepting that it is too trebley for most listeners, I’m not debating that. Just that for a few it isn’t, and it’s not necessarily from brand bias.
I think they are definitely balanced out by the bass. One way to test this, is by simply using EQ to reduce the bass and see if the treble perception is elevated because of that.
Listening volume is very important. Even with something that is extremely sibilant with normal listening levels, with low-volume it might not even be an issue.
Btw
This is my cable list, 42 different cables and the majority is in the A tier (0.0-0.3 ohm).
Which if we generalize, means that the majority of the cables out there are actually measuring very good nowadays (and most of my cables are in the 10-30 usd range).
I stopped worrying too much about cable makeup or measurements and far more about the day to day usability/comfort. Also how much they trigger my personal sense of just wanting the cable to be mostly straight and non kinky.
Edit
And nice looks do not hurt at all.
Damn, im screwed. Now ill have to buy it just for the cable…
How much for the pro?
I believe the fd3 is 700 yuan. No idea on the pro.
Alright, so HBB’s Mele and the FD3 pro, but then I’m done. No really…
Do you have the time to listen to the words of the Bud Gods?
I swear im seeing that Chaconne winking at me…
I had the x6 which died in me and I have the Smabat M2 pro (non-s, oops). I prefer IEMs for the isolation. I only use buds when I don’t want t be isolated, for instance when I’m biking. I’m safe for now
Yea same (let’s see how long that last ). Just hope there are no QC issues.
So you guys know the method of buying the Final Audio E500/E1000 to get those awesome Type E tips right?
Well, if you are lucky, you might be able to get them even cheaper.

Wow, interesting. Glad to know iRiver is still around and kicking. I used to have some of their cheap and honestly pretty bad MP3 players back in the day.
