RikudouGoku's Database (IEMs/Earbuds/Headphones Ranking list)

Oh, I have many. I’m looking forward to your review, but generally, I know I just don’t need it right now. I have IEMs I’m waiting for and of all the IEMs I already have, I don’t even get to listen to them much. The Thieaudio Clairvoyance is just sitting there not being used at all. I just ordered the Focal Clear MG as well. I’m waiting for the Lokahi and have no idea when or if it’ll ever even ship! lol.

I’ve gotta stop! After I order the DUW-03 of course.

Thanks for the info!

Sounds good.

You can read this thread on the lokahi: Audio Lokahi IEM impressions and reviews thread | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org

It is quite confusing lol.

The DUW-03 has a better (easier to disconnect/reconnect) modular cable system than the FD5 cable. A bit on the stiffer side, but feels very high quality.

they are adding Graphene to coatings for you car paint protection, basically not pure just a graphene oxide one layer thick, it has amazing properties. Wear resistance.

Sorry for going in tangent from audio discussion beforehand. Take what I say with a grain of salt because at the end of the day I’m just an enthusiast.

I feel like people nowadays use the hyped term of “graphene” only for a marketing purposes, because graphene oxide is not really graphene, just like the multiple layers of graphene, which really is just graphite. I can see how graphene and graphene oxide (GO) can be used interchangeably in some application like paint protection on cars, but not for something that’s related with electrical conductivity because of the oxide part of GO. What makes graphene great is the single layer structure and the free electron that it has, and AFAIK when the graphene is oxidised, you lose the free electron that’s really important for electrical application. If we look on other application, yes graphene and GO do have similar physical properties to some extent, but not for anything that involves electrical conductivity.

So, I feel like when people are saying the cable is made of graphene or coated with graphene, they don’t really do the justice for what a real graphene can do. I actually still believe that in the future we can have a pure graphene (not GO or rGO) audio cable, but it is still not achievable with our current tech. I’ve read a paper that states it’s possible to make GO or rGO electrically conductive by reducing graphene oxide to a certain C/O ratio, but I’m pretty sure that it’s not what people use when they say their cable is made of graphene.

The bottom line is that I think people only use the “graphene” word as a marketing advantage.

yup, it is purely for marketing.

They gotta sell their snake oil somehow…

Here is another way (400 usd cable):

Oh my… this reminds me about the cryo treated cable

This is coming from the guys that sells an 800 usd cable.

I am very excited for this one. Beryllium DD and Sonion EST in the same iem.

Gotta love Xray pics on iems.

Color me intrigued for a Dunu tuned/built tribrid. Shame that it won’t have an Eclipse DD, but they said it was to keep it at a lower pricepoint so it’s hard to fault them.

Well, they are using a beryllium DD instead. To me the DD in the Zen sounds very similar like a beryllium DD with its bass texture.

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly about the Zen’s DD. I love how the Zen handles bass (the weight and sensation is amazing for an IEM), but the fit has been just untenable with my ears (for any stretch of time over an hour or so), so sadly I’m going to have to let my pair go. Definitely got my eyes on all of their future releases.

oh rip. They fit me but they definitely wiggle a bit so not the most secure fit.

The EST112 seems to be a more universal/normal shape though.

Definitely. The weird thing about the Zen is I have seen zero reviews or impressions where the fit is bad for anyone. I’ve had a fair share of IEMs that were on the large side (EJ07, Voyager 3, Legacy 5) and ones with heavy/awkward shapes (OH10, Andromeda/Polaris 1/Nova, Shuoer Tape/Tape Pro) and never had an issue but the Zen just rubs or puts pressure on the rear curve of my ear is the most miserable way, no matter how I turn or seat them with a variety of tips. I’m a pretty tiny guy (5’4") so my ears are probably on the small side which makes me assume that I’m an outlier on this. It’s unfortunate, but such is life.

Sounds like really bad luck then.

There it is.

Although, in terms of measurements it is at 0.22 ohms and cable 175 is at 0.11 ohms lol.

A well designed cable i bought from Ali that i’m happy about; great store they even give you extra discount, just contact them.

IMO there is really no need to spend the crazy premium some ‘boutique’ stores ask.

Well designed cables

  1. Well shielded with thick insulation
  2. Solid connectors that are heavy and sturdy

Boutique Stores cables

  1. Manufacture say that their special cables will do X/Y/Z
  2. Made out of “special moon dust with silver free copper”
  3. Cost >$500

yeah, I ordered this copper cable from them (along with 3 others) as I prefered this one over the one you linked in visuals:

Going to measure them and see where they stack amongst my default recs like the faaeal litz copper cable which already measures extremely low.

Do you have a link on the OEM version?
