I may have an earlier version of the OH10; I didn’t get the pouch and I have a different cable. The tips also looks different.
But a change usually is for the better, so my cable and tips are probably not better.
A lot of these older chifi usually include shit cables and tips.
Guess the increasing competition have only given us better and better products from sound to accessories.
Great Review comparison with the FH3 vs OH10, I think your points are why I gravitated more to the FH3. Its close and the OH10 with that sub-bass is crazy, but I use it more as a demo for bass fiends than an everyday kinda listen. I’m lending it along with a few other IEMs to a friend in Alabama so we will see what ones he chooses to keep… I do know that the bass freaked him out tho so mission accomplished LOL.
Indeed, it freaks me out as well. There are only a very small handful of iems that have done that before.
I’m not a basshead, actually I really like the high notes and a good vocal, but the OH10 I really like
I dont consider myself a basshead either (although I do like a lot of bass still, so ehm…maybe semi-basshead? ) and the OH10 just have too much sub-bass for me. Its fun for a few genres, but definitely isnt a versatile iem, at least for my iems.
I like different IEMs, it is part of the fun for me that they don’t sound the same. And also to hear something different keeps men alert about the real good IEM’s I have and to hear them better. If I stick to the same for too long, it doesn’t become boring, but I just get use to it and can’t hear the greatness as clearly.
Diversity is good.
Indeed, depending on mood that extra bass will come in handy.
Nice review, as always the comparisons were very helpful.
And yep agree with the above statement, i think there is more than one type of basshead and i consider myself one who only likes the quantity as long as it comes with lots of quality.
Funny thing is how reference is important, i don’t think i could go back to the OH10s (which i loved) after listening to the LZ A6 for a few days.
That is why it is kind of complicated to understand where reviewers are coming from sometimes, you guys have such a rich reference point from being exposed to many different sounding IEMs that it is hard to follow, and that is where the comparisons help a lot, lol
Sorry lol.
Sometimes it is as much of a curse as it is a blessing to have them. Makes me VERY picky and in turn makes my wallet cry.
lol, yep i can totally understand that. I’d better settle down and stop trying new and better IEMs, otherwise i will be aiming for $1000+ options in no time!
My first IEM was the FH3, and i was mind blown by it! My mistake was thinking “let me see how this OH10 compares just out of curiosity”, and just like that the Pandora’s box cannot be closed anymore, hahaha
Indeed, although you might want to try earbuds as well.
Yincrow X6 is an epic bud thats cheap to try as well.
Last time i tried an earbud was like 20 years ago, i remember those being super uncomfortable and hard to stay in place. Do they have comparable sound to an IEM these days? They have no seal at all, right?
EDIT: i started reading a bit about these and everybody seems to love them, but wth CAD$15?! I can’t imagine an earbud sounding good enough to deserve playtime for that price, i will have to check it out!
Yeah, they are super affordable and I do like them more than the iems in that price range.
The Yincrow X6 is one I love.
And also, TOTL buds are actually in the 150-300 usd range lol. (mid-tier for iems.)
So they are really cheap compared to iems.
That looks right up my alley. Shame there’s nobody local selling them.
You can get them here:
Thanks, I’d probably pull the trigger if it weren’t for the insane import tax here.
That added to the fact I can’t give them a listen first means I might have to give it a pass.
Yeah, its risky indeed.
2021-04-19: Added the Yincrow RW-2000 rank S and demoted the NiceHCK EBX21 and the Toneking Viridis from S to S-. (Viridis review rating changed from 5/5 to 4.5/5)
Some TL DR comparison between the RW-2000, EBX21 and the Viridis:
Bass: RW-2000
Male vocals (lower-mids): RW-2000
Female vocals: Viridis
Lower-treble: EBX21
Upper-treble: Viridis
Instrument separation: Viridis
Imaging: EBX21
Soundstage: RW-2000
Timbre: RW-2000
Overall the RW-2000 is by far my favorite one out of these 3. It just matches with my library and personal preference a lot more, and as an iem guy, just sounds more “complete” to me due to the EBX21/Viridis lacking a lot of bass I need.
Would you take a $300 earbud over a $300 iem tho? I can’t imagine it being superior.
