RikudouGoku's Database (IEMs/Earbuds/Headphones Ranking list)

But at this point if you want something with a more unique sound (which the tape has). Then maybe you should wait for the Tin Hifi P2 and the LZ A7 to be released (IF their prices arent too much for you, P2 is unclear I guess it is around 150-200 usd but the A7 is around 320 usd).

Then again, the Tape is a very efficient iem so if your phone has a shit amp/dac, then just mayyyyybeeee the Tape with EQ can be a bit better for you instead of the FH3.

i just am curious because its high on a bunch of tier list like BGGARs and your tier list and has a very detailed but also punchy sound signature… but if i need EQ to make them good that sucks because i use spotify/tidal and the LG player so i have absolutely no way to make the detailed enough EQ… my other ideas were the shozy 1.1 but you say they aren’t good for certain rock and acoustic music which is difficult… and the fiio are difficult to buy (and i hope for under 150 for an IEM). finding the best IEM is really hard and it makes you overthink things… i just want powerful and heavy but also detailed enough and works with music that both has a lot of bass and a lot of treble

The FH3 is 140 usd though.

There is the LZ A6 mini, that does bass and treble really well with a huge soundstage and it is around 50-70 usd (50 usd during aliexpress sales). It does have recessed male vocals, so if male vocals are a priority then skip it (The tape also has recessed male vocals).

EQ-Tape > A6 mini > Stock-Tape

Correct answer is the upper cable.

Is that a filter on the nozzle? It appears solid.

It looks like a cloth mesh filter.

2020-09:04: Added the Tanchjim Oxygen rank S and review is up: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/tanchjim-oxygen.23545/reviews#item-review-24263

Best single DD I have ever heard, in terms of SQ and technicalities. :+1:t2:

Major update to my database concering my top tier iems:
Added a new score called “EX” for my “detailed iem ranking” page.

The EX score represents something that falls outside of the normal ranking scale, a value that cannot be quantified under the normal system because it is in a league of its own, powerful to the extent of rendering comparisons meaningless.
(inspired by https://typemoon.fandom.com/wiki/Parameter_Rules )

This score is only given to S, A+ and A ranked iems that does something at the top of its driver type.

For example the Tanchjim Oxygen is given 4 EX scores in details, instrument separation, female-vocal-quality and soundstage.
That means that the Oxygen is the best among the DD iems I have in those factors and also means that there wont be another DD iem with EX scores in those factors
(unless something dethrones the Oxygen in those factors and therefore the EX score goes to that new iem).

However it does not mean that it has better details than a hybrid/tri-brid (like the LZ A6 for example), just that it outperforms all other single DD´s in those factors.
But it does mean that it is still highly competitive even amongst other driver setups.

Not a lot of iems will get this score and even less will get multiple EX scores so this should make it a bit easier for you to see which one you would prefer.
Since comparing different driver setups is pretty much an apple to oranges comparison.

This also means I dont have to give a higher and higher score for each upgrade.
Take the LZ A6 for example, it has the biggest soundstage out of all my iems (previous score = 10).
But if there is a newer iem that has an even bigger soundstage, instead of giving it an 11 I just pass the EX score to it instead.
This prevents “power creep” (or I guess in this case “SQ creep” lol).

There is a little downside though and that is that the overall score will be a bit lower due to the EX score not being a numeric value.
It is fixed by the stars (*) that is given to the total scores on iems with EX ranks. With 1 star per EX score.
Another problem is that I cant sort it so that the highest scores are at the top (it messed up something in my sorting system…) but hopefully the color indication should be enough.

1-2 * = White
3-4 * = Green
5+ * = Blue

Damn, now I kinda wish I got it while it was on sale haha, Guess I’ll wait for 11/11

yeah, that price was a steal.

But if you dont listen to acoustic music, then I guess you arent losing out much.

Ex score, you sir are a fighting game fan lol jking, good stuff!

lol, I was thinking about the “fate” series when I added that. Didnt even know fighting games had that score too . :joy:

Lucky I guess, I assumed that no one would get it.

Right on, Yea I was thining like Ex gagues for like limit breaks and stuff. Lol

hahah :joy:

“a value that cannot be quantified under the normal system because it is in a league of its own, powerful to the extent of rendering comparisons meaningless.”

An example for something with EX ranking in the fate series is the “avalon”:

“The holder of the scabbard is granted potent healing, allowing for critical and fatal wounds to be rapidly repaired to restore the wielder’s health. Minor injuries are restored easily, and even large missing portions of the body and destroyed vital organs like the heart can quickly be restored at the critical moment before death.”

Pretty OP

(Left = limpid, right = litzps)

Kbear Limpid VS NiceHCK litzps:

Limpid advantage:
Working chin-slider
L/R marked with blue/red colors (very visible)
stronger earhooks
Better looking divider/connector (for me)

Litzps advantage:
a bit cheaper (22.61 vs 23.65 usd)
softer earhooks

I would take the Limpid over the litzps due to the looks and because they both measures around the same, Limpid = 0.46 ohm vs Litzps = 0.53 ohm, most likely unit variation and are exactly the same cable.

(left = rhyme, right = C8)

Kbear Rhyme VS Tripowin C8

Rhyme advantage:
higher quality divider/connectors
red marking for right connector
Lower measurement (0.23 ohm vs 0.34
much cheaper (20.69 vs 29.99 usd)

C8 advantage:
besides the looks, none

The Rhyme makes the C8 100% redundant and a worse cable at a much higher price, not much to say about this comparison other than that. They do look really similar (different colors) but the measurements are a bit lower on the Rhyme so most likely not the same cable.

Really nice, very close-up photos.

Thanks! Photos taken with my LG G7 + macro camera lens.

Really nice. I know how difficult it is to get that close up of a shot. You can even see the individual wires within the plastic. Very impressive.

Those macro shots would be impossible for my G7 without this lens:
