I don’t think I really used foams. Pretty sure I tossed them and went straight to some cheap IEMs with silicone tips. Might have to try one of these out of curiosity. However I just decided to pop the KSC75 on again and it makes me wonder why I need other things.
Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t for everything, and they don’t compete with some high end stuff but good grief… they are really good.
OK, this is spooky. This is exactly what I’m experiencing even in the same ear (right side).
I went to the doctor thinking I had an issue with the ear itself. It’s a sinus issue causing estuation tube disfunction. He put me on a steroid and and that has helped a lot but I’m not 100%. Not a great time to be critically listening to anything. It’s generally this strange pressure issue in my head and neck.
My doctor also told me that because of the sinus pressure/suction, my eardrum was being sucked towards my inner ear instead of being pushed away from it. He did a tuning fork hearing test on me and I was able to hear the tuning fork for a much longer time on the side with the issue than I was with the side that was fine.
I hope this passes for both of us! It sucks really bad to have that new shiny toy sitting right there and not be able to enjoy it to its fullest.
Thanks @Rikudou_Goku It happens. None of this is serious. I’m hyper sensitive to it because listening is so important to me. I have lots of issues with anxiety as well, so worrying about it makes it worse than it really is. Most people probably wouldn’t even notice this. My doctor was even kinda like… suck it up dude, it’s not a big deal. lol
They just dont deserve the original shitty cable…
…wanted to do mmcx, but both my soldering skills and the wiring inside are so bad I had to give up mid-way and solder it balls to the wall
Well, the process of the mod was such an emotional rollercoaster I dont really know if I can recommend it
In the end I had to fork a new cable, but I am pretty pleased with the result.
Chiming in on the spooky train, I have a similar issue as well. Of course it’s right after I’ve bought the FD5 (hasn’t arrived yet though). My issue most likely stems from getting an infection from a face mask, drying out my cheeks and getting an inflamed hair sack after shaving, it has since spread towards my right ear. Having to wear full mask and face-shield in my work for upwards of 8-9 hours certainly isn’t fun.
On antibiotics now though, hopefully I’ll be fully recovered by the time I get the FD5’s. But it’s certainly an annoying issue. A side-effect of this has actually made me really sensitive to treble on the right side, hah. Been a while since I really felt something resonate so hard in my ears.
May our ears make a full recovery and sound bless us once more.
This was always my gripe back in the day when I owned KSC75’s. I went through so many pairs during high-school. Custom cable jobs weren’t cheap then either unless you had the skills and tools to do it yourself. It would be nice if Koss one day decided to go MMCX on them.
Well, I decided to compare the Chaconne to the Tanchjim Oxygen (iem) since that is probably my best transducer for acoustic/vocal focused music.
And damn, going from the Chaconne to the Oxygen was like going from an open-back hp to a closed-back hp.
Besides the bass, which obviously is better (lower extension, more rumble and higher quantity) on the Oxygen since its an iem. The treble is a lot airier and doesnt sound as bright and fatiguing, the Chaconne has like zero fatigue. Mids are a bigger surprise, since the Chaconne makes the Oxygen sound like it has 3rd rate timbre lol. Resolution and imaging/instrument separation are fairly similar, might be a bit better on the Oxygen though. But the soundstage on the Chaconne is…making the Oxygen sound narrow lol.
Oh my god! So sorry to hear this. It’s kinda silly because for the average person, this stuff wouldn’t matter much, but when you’re investing time and money into this hobby, anything that takes your biology out of the game, it really devastates your enjoyment of the hobby.
This is VERY sad to say but because I can’t count on my head and ears always being at 100%, I’m really going to have to re-think my IEM addiction. Over-ears just became much more attractive to me.
I have some. I bought the Fiio flagships and sent them back. Not impressed with the fit. I actually enjoy my wireless Apple Ear Buds. I prefer full size headphones to earbuds. I prefer IEMs to headphones. Too bad I’m having sinus, inner ear/suction/pressure problems with IEMs. I prefer a complete air proof seal which makes the suction issues worse.
I can see through the package… It looks like a FH5s to me!
Mine should be here soon along with Mr_Makua’s leftovers.
The cable with the 3.5/4.4mm adapters have a resistance of 0.53 ohms while the 2.5mm adapter has a resistance of 0.57 ohms. Pretty meh cable, I might change it to one of my XINHS cables instead and the chin-slider isnt working either. (it does look pretty good though…)
It looks larger than most Fiio hybrids. I can take pictures of all the other hybrids for comparison when mine arrives. I think the FH3 was the smallest and most comfortable of all of them.
I was thinking about this… I feel pretty comfortable coming to this thread, chatting and posting about most anything IEMs with Rikudou_Goku, but this is @Rikudou_Goku 's thread. Maybe it isn’t appropriate for me to be posting my thoughts or my own mini reviews of products here?
