Looks pretty much like the HD 560S but more expensive…
After Sennheiser sold its consumer part I guess now they just sell the HD 560S under their “Pro” department that they still own!?
I still haven’t reached out to Sennheiser for an official confirmation, but does anyone here know whether the transfer has been officially carried out? I’m talking about the transfer of its consumer section to Sonova — while yes, it has been publicized for some time now, they said the transfer should be completed before the end of the year… and the year is getting closer, and closer to its end.
Just looked on the Sennheiser web site. They still list the HD 560S but with the price marked down from $259 to $229. Specs and visuals are identical between the two models. Both clearly have the HD 5 series housing. The HD 400 PRO comes in a new cardboard box, has the label PRO added to the new name that suggests an association with the venerable HD 600 and comes with a second cable, 1.8m and 3.5mm terminated (both cables are TRS). Despite the $319 MSRP on the Sennheiser site, Adorama is selling this brand “new” product at $250 with $289 crossed out. That’s $20 to cover the second cable.
Let’s be patient and see how Sennheiser explains this. Perhaps the two are tuned differently?
If not, it might be down to the cable and the target audience (and maybe some revenue, although I highly doubt it considering that Sennheiser takes a pretty penny from its professional business)
That’s a really cool idea. I’ve always thought manufacturers should kinda do the ZMF thing of making different tunings of essentially the same driver/chassis.
eg. What would darker and warmer clears be? Or brighter LCD 2s
A different tuning would be interesting, I enjoyed the 560s. Really curious to find out more about these. I always found the 5 series design to be super comfortable for me personally.
Fun fact: These preview link card things are actually fun internet widgets referred to as “Opengraph metadata”. As Maze said, they need to be supported on the website you’re linking for it to work.
Perhaps I’m blind, but is that a rendering of the headphone that’s supposed to ship out in basically a few months? And they are already taking pre orders? On a site with likely no buyer protection policy? From a guy that’s just taken money and ran before? I am slightly concerned for those who gave their money already, hopefully there are no problems for them lol. Also wow that marketing/flavor text is pretty over the top
Well, he is reputable and comes from England.
The ones he sells are popular in Europe and are supposed to be good according to some reports.
I struggle more with the idea of dynamic and planar drivers.
I wonder if it’s really good, if so how good.
It would definitely have an advantage with the bass range of the dynamic driver, and the mid and treble range with the planar driver.
I could like the idea.
But if it’s a mix of both, it might be difficult, because I don’t understand how both drivers would work on the music at the same time.
Concept and idea seems not bad.
Depends on the implementation in the end.
Everybody started small that way.
What is a rendering, for you?Can you explain for me please?
