Im glad something is shaking up this price range as I truly believe this is where we could see some endgame level offerings coming in at and it was so vacant for the last few years.

This is key. The budget sets are what $100ish sets would’ve been a couple of years ago. The $100 sets are competitive with what was the $300+ bracket, and if the $300+ sets can compete with up to $1000, the way that $500+ sets are arguably competing with kilobuck+ sets, it’ll be great for the health of the hobby

Agreed - If companies are really pushing price boundaries, It won’t be long until we see something at or under $400 that competes with the mid-fi boys at $650 and we all know those are damn close to the budget TOTL boys at $1k. We’re witnessing a shake-up in the market and I’m here for it.

Final will exhibit a prototype of the “X8000”, the latest model of planar magnetic field type headphones. It is positioned as a new “X series” that incorporates the results of basic research over many years, and although detailed specifications have not yet been disclosed, we were able to ask about several important topics this time. The 8000 series is the name given to final’s flagship, and features a uniquely etched diaphragm, as shown in the photos in the catalog. Magnets and coils have also been reinforced, and it is said that it has been developed as a driver with little distortion and good response. The housing is machined from titanium, and the prototype has a matte texture, but the final form is planned to have a mirror finish. The ear pads are made with a 3D printer and are characterized by the fact that they look sparkling depending on the lighting conditions. The cable is white and silver, and together with the main body, you can feel the quality of jewelry. The release is scheduled for the end of the year, and information will be released sequentially.

You can bet on that. When the very first thing you see is “HIGH END” that tells me everything I need to know! It’ll be overpriced. Snore…
Had the original OH10 for a while and quite liked it. Hope Ikko doesn’t butcher their most liked model. Everything that came after the OH10 seems to be on “meh” side. No heavy copper shell anymore (I think, it says alloy now). L & R indicator are switched on the pictures??

They are still popping out $100 and under sets too. Frankly, that price bracket is oversaturated with good choices now.
