AAC is a BT connection, there’s a comma between usb mqa (renderer) and AAC IIRC its a pretty universal BT standard. Doesn’t make it any better that it’s the one that apple seem to want to focus on unfortunately (although from what I’ve seen you can force aptx on Macs).

The Heavys have launched on Kickstarter.
Claiming 50 hours with ANC (or without, the description flip flops
Making some bold claims
Some specs and the highlighted layout
For whatever reason admitted to having a patent being rejected, and won’t ship until September
And the pricing…
I’m rather skeptical.
I think it’s enough to look at the point where they claim their headphone has 2 frequency responses, which is supposed to be better than regular headphones which have just one frequency response, to become more than skeptical. What is this even supposed to mean?
Nice big battery, makes it interesting. 1160mAh.
The BTR5 has a 550mAh Battery, Qudelix-5K 500 mAh Battery, and ifi go blu 450mAh Battery.
ALL DAY RAGING WITH QUAD DRIVERS, SIGN ME UP FOR 4!
What could go wrong? It’s got Hell Blocker technology!
Decided to sign up for the super early bird on a pair. Maybe I’ll offer them to @ZeosPantera and get a rage fest out of them. Entertainment for all if he accepts! If not, maybe I’ll try my hand at giving impressions.
I certainly look forward to that.
It looks like Shure has updated two of their headphones, now introducing the:
SRH440A
and SRH840A
Beyond colors, an additional cable (on the 840A) and the 840A claiming to have matched drivers, couldn’t tell you the difference. Of course, Shure doesn’t list specs on their site.
hope the fit has been improved the 840s are the most uncomfortable headphone i’ve used period
Looks like they’re using that bog standard crappy pad a lot of “studio” headphones use. Maybe a pad swap would help?
already sold them at the same price i got them for, they sounded p.good and besides the fit would be a solid rec at 2nd hand prices (got mine for £50/$70), could be decent with a super deep* pad but my ears still touched the pads
The 840A sure looks nice, I like the colors/stiching and the look of that headband.
I’ve had Shure on the brain lately, have never tried 1840 - and can find very little impressions of it via our normal channels. I “got a guy” for Shure, so I can dabble in them with less guilt.
AAC is actually more complicated than that as ut’s also a music file format like mp3 and FLAC. if you Google about AAC you will see the idea was for it to be the successor and replacement for mp3.
I’d watch that. It’s always fun watching Zeos rage at products.
The 10 hours of battery life, on the NX7, for high gain got my attention. The input is 3.5mm since it was only an Amp, which wasn’t obvious to me at first. When I see portable devices, I tend to think Amp/DAC. I guess this is something you use with an dongle DAC.
For comparison on the portable side, it has about 5x the power of the BTR5 or the Qudelix-5K.
Yes, you need a dac along with it. An Apple dongle for example.
Man I keep looking at the page and am getting more tempted to hop on the campaign train. In the Khadas forum they did say they were working on a balanced one with 4.4 which makes me want to wait for that to drop later in the year.
@hawaiibadboy 's new video has tons of info
In addition to some possible info on the Crin situation that is insightful and horrible ( YouTube needs to be less random, and more clear about policy ), Chris talks about three different collabs that he is working on right now.
- KZ DQ6
- Tripowin Olina
- Shuoer Kinda Lava , an EJ07M with mid-bass tuned more like the Elysian X
I am very curious to hear more about the Olina, and wondering the price on the Shuoer, and probably going to avoid the DQ6, since the side wings on the recent KZ sets are uncomfortable for me.
Ifi lauched the the Zen one Signatue. It apparently combines the DAC functionality of the Zen DAC with added Bluetooth 5.1, compatible LDAC/APTX. I only found the price for UK as £349, which seems a little high.
next they will probably release Zen One with Zen CAN Signature MZ99 & HF, with the caption “only CAN you’ll need”. At least until another Zen CAN version pops up.
