That’s kinda odd of them to make that. The Aiyima A07 has all around better specs, is $60, and on top of it all has a 3.5mm line out so you can run a 2.2 channel setup. Just seems like they could have done quite a bit better.
Seems like an april fools joke. I mean sure… have them sell keyboards (crin is also shilling keyboards nowadays), but those legends? Come on… who designed those?
Nothing against a pixelated retro look, but why do the pixels have different widths (take a look at the left and right side of the “U”) for example. The “k” and “L” look nasty? the “:;” key has both far too close together and misaligned. Probably many more problems, as I looked at it only a few seconds.
For real… who designed that font? Looks genuinely terrible and knowing custom keyboards, this will probably be expensive (>150 Euro/USD)
I don’t think it’s odd at all. First of all, the Aiyima uses a TI chip while the SMSL uses a Infineon chip. The SMSL has way better build quality.
The Aiyima doesn’t have a 3.5mm out, it’s just a second 3.5mm input.
The SMSL A100 was released a few month ago but discontinued after a short while because of chip shortage I guess.
The DA-6 looks like the best 100€ (desktop) speaker amp IMO
that 3.5mm is an aux in and a line out(not pre-out, so volume has to be handled in a preamp or on the DAC). i’ve used it for years with a 2.2 setup. works great.
So I may have given in to impulse and bought these (ETA Mini Closed), and apparently the people who make them are here in New York City and so they got here quick. I just got them, and I’ll post my impressions somewhere around this forum once I’ve had more time with them but the short version is they sound… amazing. These things are legit.
If it’s not even a pre out you could simply split the RCA signal to integrate a sub and don’t need an extra 3.5mm out.
But in this case you would have to use the DAC as your preamp and set the speaker amp to a fixed volume.
