Really curious how this one turns out… that is a lot of functionality in one box lol
I would love to see DAPs with OLED screens. I wonder why audio companies don’t do that. It can’t be too expensive right? Most cheap phones come with OLED panels with more than 60 Hz refresh rate HDR support… e.t.c. it’s not the most Important thing in a DAP but still, it would also help with battery life and eye strain.
Anyway, I really liked overall sound quality of DX320 so I can only imagine how nice the MAX varient will be (and expensive ). Hopefully, they won’t make it more bright sounding, I felt the DX320 (with stock card) was already a tiny bit bright.
its definetly gonna be interesting, finaly a reason to give a shiit about shiit again.
If anything I would love for them to use E-Ink displays. Those have an insane battery life (and looks like real paper) where the screen doesnt actually drain ANY power if you dont need to update the screen (aka, showing a static picture can be done pretty much infinitely).
true that, that would be great.
I wasn’t aware of this tech until you mentioned it. It seems like a great option for portable DACs with screens like the BTR7, Gryphon… or Non-Android DAPs like RS2, M0 Pro… e.t.c. I don’t think I would like it on an android device though, atleast for my personal use case. I like to watch YouTube videos occationally on my DAP and that type of display would not look good. I also like to see my music’s album art in full color
Yeah, it would be great for portable sources with a small screen, only needs some backlights though since u cant see anything without external lights.
There is colored E-ink displays actually but quite rare and more expensive.
there used to be russian phone the had to screens, one was e ink for longer batterie life. A classmate had one back then, was pretty interesting. I dont think that makes sense, but I think its a great idea for android players, since its a second device for most people already
I remember those! Yota phone or yotaphone I think.
There is a modern one with E ink actually and it even has a pretty good dac/amp (ES9318).
But IMO, E ink is not viable for smartphones due to the poor visibility in daylight and the extremely slow refresh rates.
Can see it being used in DAPS but the perfect ones would be something like this.
Where it is pretty much a static image all the time, which will have ZERO drain on the battery. And poor visiblity in daylight might not be a big problem.
Actually e ink has puurrfect visibility in daylight, the more light the better (just like a paper, no freaking 2000nits iPad would stand a chance).
On the other hand it’s refresh rate would make browsing library terrible for most people in my opinion. Though those newer generations may be better, there are those e ink notebooks like remarkable etc while my experience is with kindles only
yeah, which is why I think it would be perfect for a portable dac/amp that only shows static text, compared to DAPS. That refresh rate really is a terrible experience after coming from regular displays.
you mean we can’t just dump and run?
I am absolutely doing it wrong. I am on this like flies on … schiit
Catheter comes out this morning, scans later in the day to see if it can stay out.
We had a “getaway” in Charlotte planned before all this happened, we got there last night so we’re driving back home for the day for these procedures then driving out for one more night. I stopped pain meds yesterday around noon so I should be able to have a good beer with tonight’s dinner. Which is my favorite way to enjoy a drink.
Good luck, man
You’re in my thoughts, no doubt about it
a personal speaker that’s tuned so the audio spread is very narrow.
And our next contestant for impossible to remember or pronounce names in the “brand” category…
This one seems to lump them with BGVP?? Nice shells.
It’s like they chose the name by dropping a cat onto the keyboard.
