Gotcha gotcha, miss read Riku’s post
$3499 with 888 units available worldwide
That’s expensive but I’m not surprised. It’s probably competing with something like the SP3000.
what do you get when you mix Cupacabra with Cthulhu?
dunno, nobody can pronounce it yet…
Can’t believe I missed this comment gold for 16 whole days. Genuinely funny comment. TBH, at first I was trying to figure out how Coreir Brass was something horny fleas do and it took me a good 30 seconds before I saw the Nippon Dicks brand above it.

By adopting an open-back acoustic structure that does not acoustically block the housing, it is possible to reduce the reflected sound inside the headphones and reproduce the exact sound field intended by the creators. In addition, a large acoustic resistor is used in the opening connecting the front and back of the driver unit to optimally control ventilation. Spatial resonance is eliminated to achieve natural and full bass reproduction with little coloring.
The diaphragm has been simulated and prototyped several times, and the diaphragm shape and corrugation with low distortion and high compliance have been derived. Reproducibility in the low range is high, and super-high range playback and high-sensitivity playback are possible. In addition, the structure with a duct on the back realizes sufficient volume and quick and tight bass reproduction while maintaining a sense of separation between the midrange and the low range.
The ear pads are made of suede-like artificial leather that feels good on the skin and is suitable for long-term use. In addition, by making use of the knowledge gained from the development of numerous headphones so far, we have reduced the weight in every detail to bring stability and comfort when worn.
The cable is detachable for easy replacement, and has a fixed structure with a screw-type lock ring for secure connection. The ear pads can be replaced by the user. (*)
*Replacement ear pads are available as service parts.
The cable plug uses a φ6.3mm stereo standard plug that is widely used in production sites. By using the included plug adapter, it is also possible to connect to a PC, smartphone, Walkman (R), etc. equipped with a φ3.5mm stereo mini jack.
It can also be used for listening in a listener environment such as a portable device.
5Hz-80,000Hz ultra-wideband reproduction brought about by a specially developed driver unit
Comfortable and stable wearability that enables long-term use
User-friendly cable with detachable plug and replaceable ear pads
φ6.3mm stereo standard plug headphone cable and φ6.3mm → φ3.5mm stereo mini plug adapter included
Are these the final consumer version of this?
Guess so, only visual difference seems to be the grill.
oh shit its real!!!
Also tempted somehow. Had the Sony MA900 and Z7 for a while. If I am honest to myself I doubt that the Sony will beat something like an edition XS in bass extension, detail, Soundstage…
Sony is known for bass…so no way to know until reviews are out and pause for dramatic effect you try them out for yourself and do an AB comparison.
I am an anti-Sony person since their snafu of installing rootkits on peoples PC’s in the early 2000’s…but these intrigue me.
The objective of that headphone alone makes it interesting - the production of mixing and mastering 3D sound with a headphone reference. I could see this being a fun headphone to add to the collection.

That baffle structure is pretty interesting. It looks kinda like something I experimented with on my last open back build with tesla drivers though I’m hoping theirs is far more successful because my attempts didn’t work out well. Good find! I want to hear this headphone now.
for some reason I didn’t think this was a monitor focused headphone, but indeed it is…so perhaps the bass would be underwhelming as monitor grade equipment is hoping for natural / neutral sound profiles.
