Yeah it looks like that is the prelim offer. I’m tempted by these as I love my utws3 but if $200 is the price it’s not much of a deal to get the pair so I’m wondering if the price will be close to $300 standalone
They also recently updated the internals of the Soloist GT models with lower noise caps and a few other things in a silent revision they outlined in an email.
Apple Music has a new feature that singles out classical tracks for easy access.
They had me interested until the part listing the different IEMs they pair it with… Then came the price… Holy fuck! $800 at the low end?
Hopefully they will also do them without the paired offerings because even if I was looking for a TWS solution (I’m not) I have absolutely no interest in the sets they’ve paired them with…so and I’m guess here they’ve removed 99% of their possible market
The fact that it has LDAC and LHDC hes my interest, not to mention how well ifi’s products generally seem to perform. I’d be interested in picking a pair up as to not have to worry about buying tws IEMs and just being able to use this in cases where a wire would be that inconvenient or in the way. I’d probably consider $200 stand alone. Too much more, and I’ll start questioning if it’s even worth it.
There’s a few of these TWS style adapters for IEM’s, it seems that one is a promotional so I bet they’ll release a standalone unit as it only makes sense. The only issue I’ve had with these are the bulk, the UTWS3 was massive in the pocket. These look like they could even be bulkier, or at least the renders look pretty big I’ll have to see what they actually look like in hand.
Agreed, though as I’m a bit used to carrying a 20Ahr battery bank (Trust me when I say they aren’t small), in used to having something bulky. The UTWS5 is the same way.
Looks like (only ) the first 1,000 are to come pre-paired with those IEMs:
Might be a bit of a wait …
1000 unit’s they say…Reckon It’s gonna be a long, long time before we see any of the standalone product for sale then?
Can hold out hope that when they say produced, they don’t necessarily mean sold to consumers
I HOPE, that this means that after the 1000 (sacrifices), it goes down to just the 200 usd price that the adapter seems to be at…unless this adapter + iem is a deal and the adapter only is gonna be more expensive…
iFi gotta stop snorting their own supply, because they’re high AF with this
Yeah I was worried it would be something like this
I can’t see any reason to get this over the utws5
C’mon man, the leather and rubber alone cost 200 pounds
Jokes aside, as is usually the case with these sort of ‘accessories’, customers will tell whether it’s worth it. If it indeed is a game changer, perhaps there is an audience for it… as for the rest of the world, i.e. the “normal” consumer market, it appears as though we get less and less affordable things. Perhaps someone will bring on-par performance at a cheaper price? Even if this were to happen, it’d take some time
So I just checked the specs compared for it
and compared it to the UTWS5
differences I noticed
- Qualcomm chips are different: QCC5144 (iFi) vs QCC5141 (Fiio)
- DAC is Cirrus Logic (iFi) vs AK4332 (Fiio)
- Amp puts out 120mW @ 32Ohm (iFi) vs 33mW @32Ohm (Fiio)
- Battery difference is pretty big: 35 total hours with 7 hours per charge (iFi) vs 30 total hours and 3-4 hours per charge (Fiio)
Now imo idk if that is worth over double the price but the GO pod seems to be all around better spec wise
EDIT: I forgot to add the GO pod has a really cool feature where the connectors are interchangeable so you can just buy the MMCX, Pentaconn, 2 pin, etc. pieces and keep the base. This is huge for people with multiple IEMs
Will probs be worth it for people with large IEM collections, or with people who have their fav IEMs and want to use them wirelessly.
