Rumors and new releases thread

So are you trying to say it isn’t based on Heresy?

No I was asking a question, what you posted up there should confirm it’s based on Heresy

Going from their photos, it is based on the Heresy, with some heavy tweaks.

That was supposed to be a reply to @MazeFrame

Haha oops sorry. I saw myself quoted. But take a look at the SBAF thread, looks like it’s Heresy enhanced, apparently sounds different too

The IEMagni uses TI Burr-Brown OPA1656’s (2x 3 of them running “dual mono”). The Heresy uses TI OPA1688’s (2x 4 of them running “dual mono”).
Spec wise, the OPA1656’s are better (by a lot). How that translates to real world performance (the ingredients are only half the dinner), dunno.

Supposedly that’s where the 20USD increase in cost is. And Tbf I quite liked the Heresy even though I’ve moved on from the super clean sound

xDuoo also released the hybrid MT-604 with 4 6J1 tubes. This time with fully balanced circuitry. There’s also dual volume wheel for each channel.

Just got an alert that SMSL is bringing something new out:

The SMSL VMV D1se MQA DAC. Listed @ $719.00. Looks real nice, specs out pretty nicely too, depending on how you feel about MQA. I’m a bit confused though, they offer balanced output, but then the A1 amp that they are pairing with it is a FET Class A with SE input in and output. The other thing is that the headphone jack is in the back. That could be annoying as Hell. They make a nice stack, though. $1,370.00 for the pair…

There is even an optional speaker being offered. Interesting…

oh gods…they’re gonna bury all the MQA dissent by having everyone release a bazillion MQA decoding amplifiers. >.<

They can try. I have absolutely ZERO interest in this or any MQA DAC, so I am unphased by it. I looked at it, it looked interesting, I saw MQA and turned the page!

But… look at those spikes on the bottom… It’s a DAC, MQA decoder, and a Personal Defense Weapon. The Ultimate Triple Threat…

just because it has MQA decoding doesn’t mean the item should be dropped from your list. you can just ignore the fact it’s there if there aren’t any other options worthy to buy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also kinda agree here, I wouldn’t flat out ignore something only because of a feature you don’t have to use if it sounds good

It just annoys me quite a lot, that I have to get MQA if I end up getting the Matrix Sabre Dac. The normal version without MQA is discontinued, so now you have to get it with MQA or not at all. And it is ofc more expensive now.
Without MQA the price WAS around 17-1800 Euro, but now it is 2245.

So that’s not exactly due to mqa, a lot of the matrix higher end products took a price hike due to covid, but they still should have kept offering the non mqa
