Get it! Like tasting colours right…
As you move up in SS amps, generally you tend to get improved presentation of the higher frequencies, they sound less “harsh”. You get better Bass control, you get improvements in imaging, sound stage and “air”.
People think this is because they mess with the frequency response curve, but if you look at the graphs that’s clearly not it. every half decent solidstate amp is a flat FR line between 30Hz and 30KHz. Even a lot of valve amps measure that way.
Most of the difference is going to be transient response, phase, and the nature of the noise.
Not sure if my Vali 2019 qualify, but if so, this is getting tempting…
Haven’t heard them so I can’t say there lol
Very few have! I was hoping someone else would get a pair so I can find out what they thought. Now I’m okay enjoying them. I don’t wanna know if they are bad at this point!
I mean I like my thror so if they sound anything like that they would most likely be pretty nice lol (but that’s a planar not dynamic, but it does sound very good on the rnhp actually, although I think I prefer it on the mz3 or niimbus)
I’d trust William Murdoch’s impression of them, and he seemed very impressed, so they’re probably not “bad”.
That’s a good point. I guess it does speak to Kennerton as a whole. The Vali uses a different dynamic driver. This thread is tempting me to start saving up and/or considering trading my Fostex Ebony in order to give the RNHP a try. I’m very curious after reading all the comments here.
That’s a good point. I’m tried two of his recommendations and his descriptions were pretty spot-on for both headphones.
I do think the rnhp would be an improvement most likely lol. But you could try a lower impedance friendly tube amp if you wanted to really warm and thicken them up lol
I want to be clear that I was just talking about detectability of a difference, not quality. Also my comparator is an amazing, $1700 piece of studio awesomeness. So please don’t draw conclusions.
I mean I could compare my US4+ to the RNHP lol (both are pretty studio amps), but I would rather not do that for unknown reasons
Although I will say the niimbus may possibly win by default because of the ability to adjust the brightness of the led’s without the use of legos lol
That is some sexy, sexy shit right there.
Very much a solid state beast
I am not sure, I got it from a friend who had one already, and got a tube amp he really liked so he wanted to sell. I think he imported his but idk how
They should sound close to the 1st gen. Vali and the more I listen to mine, I can tell they are good and getting better. Burn-in or getting use to the sound or whatever it is.
Vali are some great HP.
All of those Lake People and Violetric HP amps have ridiculous specs. 5 watts into 100ohm with THD+N to the 4th decimel place? Yikes.
lol never though of that. those round lego pieces fight on the lights? lol
