Mics are low-impedance (most are below 600 Ohm). So this might cause some other wierdness.
If you have a PC you can get a USB ADC cable designed for guitars that are used by various effects processing packages, and then run the output from the PC.
The latency is none zero, but itâs no worse than a lot of RF transmitters.
Youâre a wizard. Jotenheim 2 released hours later.
Anyone have experience using a Beyerdynamic A20 against the Asgard 3 with DT880 600 ohms? curious if I shouldnât just get the asgard 3 and simplify my setup.
Iâd say they are on a roughly similar playing field with the 880 600 ohms, might not be worth unless you plan to have a more diverse range of cans you want to use imo or desperately needed an all in one (but you can really get some small unobtrusive dacs so personally I wouldnât be too concerned about that)
M0N are you going to get the new jot 2? Would love to hear your thoughts on that vs the asgard 3.
Iâll wait a few months, will get to it eventually
⌠but so many people are depending on you!
I do really want to hear one, but mainly for my own curiosity lol, need to cut back on extra spending anyways lol
no offense to zeos⌠but I definitely trust M0Nâs opinion about 5x more than I do hisâŚ
Yeah, apparently he hasnât seen this thread, lol!!!
âThe best budget amp no one is talking about in Australia but everyone is talking about in the Hifiguides forumsâ
I just picked up an Asgard 3 this last week. I can say for now that the A3 definitely needs a burn-in period. The first hour of listening comparing it to the Atom, I wanted to return it. It sounded shrill, stuffy, and the atom was producing more bass. The X2s, in particular, did not sound right on the A3. Now after a couple days, the A3 is opening up and smoothing out. I did a little bit of testing for gaming and it seems the A3 does create a âdaredevilâ like soundstage compared to the Atom.
Also, I was going to buy the El Amp II but changed my mind for the A3.
Nice post! What you have mostly experienced here is brain burn in. You got very used to a particular sound with the Atom and it became ârightâ to you. The A3 has a different sonic character and that can come across as âwrongâ at first. In time I also realized the A3 was subtly extracting more info from the music and presenting it a surprisingly natural and lifelike way for its price point. Enjoy the A3. I havenât found better sounding amp yet under even $300.
Does any of the A3âs sound/magic come go out through the preamp? Or is it the sound of the dac only?
Could somebody please help me come to a decision between the Element 2 or a Modius/Asgard3 stack? I have a birthday coming up and my parents said they will buy me a new setup for ~$400.
Currently I have an HD6xx, Sundara, and X2HR. I get that none of these require as much power but I would like to futureproof, especially since the money is not coming out of my pocket right now!
I love the aesthetics of both the Element 2 and the Modius/A3 stack but I give the edge to the Element because I LOVE the look of the huge knob. But the Modius/A3 also looks great and has the benefit of being 2 separate units if I ever feel the need to upgrade in the future.
After browsing on this forum a bit, I get the feeling that the Modius/A3 provides more power and functionality for the same price as the Element 2, and if I also like the way this stack looks, I am not sure it makes sense to even consider the E2.
Any thoughts? Sorry if this as been discussed somewhere in this massive thread lol
Dac performance wise, you may get better results from the schiit stack, but honestly either one would be great. The a3 is excellent for the sundara and 6xx imo, the schiit stack would give you more room for upgrades and what not for the future
