šŸ”· Schiit Asgard 3

In Europe the A3 cost ~250€, so about 300 USD. Do you guys still think it’s worth getting the A3 for that money? It was kinda my first choice for a new amp.

Actually, how do you calculate this cost to EU?
I`ve seen Schiit EU does not have it on stock anyway.
Shipping from US is 200$ A3 + 70$ shipment by Fedex + 45 EUR duties.

Well 1 EUR = 1 USD
And it’s just listed as 250€ in the Europe-Schiit Store. Shipping from USA is roughly the same with shipping and fees/duties as you said.

For me, it’s definitely worth that, I had to get it shipped direct from the US to the UK. I, and I know a few others, feel that you have to go to the $500 range to get an upgrade from the A3 and even then its still not a huge upgrade (I upgraded to the RNHP), but I still keep the A3 on my desk since it drives some of my headphones better (for me) than the RNHP does.

Alright, good to head. Thanks for the input.

(apologies if this has already been covered in the thread)
Has anyone else noticed that their music sounds ā€œbetterā€ when the A3 is warm? I swear when the amp is warm the music sounds fuller. Easily could be placebo, but I could sware…

Yes, and even more so with the Jotunheim 2. So, if you’re nuts :peanuts:, then I am right there with ya!

Glad I’m not the only one enjoying my A3 as a combination HiFi amp / space heater! The more I use it the more I appreciate the quality sound it produces.

I have mine placed slightly under my dual monitor set-up. I have it on a metal computer mouse pad, and slide it out a bit out from under the monitor. I know people say it doesn’t bet that hot, but compared to my old PS Audio GHCA it heats up more. I’m not really worried about it. Just being cautious. The sound is worth the heat

How ā€œhotā€ is everyone’s A3 running?
I’m actually surprised, as I expected it to run a bit warmer than it does for me.

MMMMmmmm yummy !! Bacon and eggs cooking here on my A3!!! Good stuff… no not really… Had mine for 8months or so. It stays on all the time and it is only after it gets a strenuous workout that it gets a bit warm… I use it to power my monitors and they often get cranked … As well as using it with headphones it never gets what I would call hot but definitely warm.

Warm but not hot. I can still comfortably touch mine even after it’s been used for awhile. Like @Jetman I leave mine on unless I leave the house overnight and it’s never been a problem.

This is the same for me - hot but can still easily touch without hurting myself. I turn it off when I go to sleep at night, but otherwise it’s usually on

Very warm here but I live in the tropics so I’d say it adds to the heat. It doesn’t feel worrisome though just a warm running amp. And yeah it does seem to have some slight changes when it heats up.

Thanks guys!

(sorry for my schiity picture) Just got my Asgard 3 and Modius, yesterday! Talk about a warm combo, both physically and sound signature. Since I’m still pretty inexperienced It’s pretty hard to articulate what I’m hearing. I previously had a atom/modi 3 combo and i definitely noticed a jump in quality with my music. It kind of sounds like I’m getting more fullness, warmth and more punch from my music. I’m using both 58x and Sundara as my headphones. I Just got the Sundara’s too but due to cosmetic defects, I’m getting it replaced. I definitely need to listen with it more to fully understand what I’m experiencing with my ears. The month wait was worth it.

I don’t know what they use for their rubber feet but it definitely leaves marks, so that sucks. Also, is it me or does the Asgard 3 have an odor? maybe its new amp smell but its like a feint scent of heated rubber. That’s probably not the right description but it’s a smell i haven’t experienced before.

I’m pretty damn happy with this purchase though. This is going to be my end game for a while. Now its time to buy headphones to build up my experience and taste. any suggestions? Also, should i just leave the Modius and Asgard on all the time? as long as no music is playing it won’t draw much power, right?

Yes. Schiit leaves skidmarks. I’m quite sure this is done on purpose  :poop:

Glad your enjoying the new gear!

On the topic of schiit’s skid marks, I got these to replace them. They grip way better and don’t leave marks. I also use them on my topping D10.

What would you guys suggest as a companion amp to the asgard 3? Would it be more worthwhile to just upgrade the asgard and keep one amp or is it a good idea to have a second amp for headphones that don’t work as well with the asgard? I’m sort of thinking of either going tube after this (crack+speedball) or going in the other direction and getting something more analytical and perhaps balanced out. Same goes for the modius if there are dac pairing suggestions out there.
