šŸ”· Schiit Asgard 3

I guess you could if you wanted to

Good luck with that!!

I don’t actually know anything about making a dac, but was curious since there must be empty space for one if you get it with no dac.

Understand, but its way more complicated than you think…you need exact information on signals, pin-outs etc and this stuff is not published by the OEM, in this case Schitt…

Your so much better off buying one of their internal or external or other vendors externals and save a lot of grief and possible damge to a working product…IMO

Yes lol, trying to create an add in card might be needlessly difficult

Yeah I found a asgard 3 multibit for $270 which is my endgame lmao

Dang that’s a really good deal lol, I would have expected a 4490 module at that price, getting the multibit for that price is pretty nice

I was really surprised as well but I’ve seen them on reddit for $260 as well just rare to see though.

Up in Canada, you’re lucky to see just an Asgard 3 for $250.00.

Out of morbid curiosity, would the A3 be good enough to power something like the HE6SE? What would be the proper requirements for a can like that, or its older relative, the HE6?

Basx a100 would probably work better with the he6

Nope, you really want to invest in a high end speaker amp

I wouldn’t suggest the a100 imo, it works fine, but I really wouldn’t consider the he6 with them unless you are willing to drop a few grand on a nice power amp (or look used in the 1k range, preferably over 200 watts into 8 ohms if you want to get the most). I think picking up a he560v1 or used hifiman edition x v2 is a better idea if you aren’t willing to spend on an amp

What speaker amp did you find paired well specifically with the 6SE? First result I found for those specs was some amp from crown audio going for $270

I really like it on a parasound halo a21+ but that’s not the most reasonable. You can get a crown and power them fine but it will only sound pretty meh, they like lots of high quality power here. I think if you wanted to go lower budget you could pick up something like these power amps:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/362921950124

https://www.ebay.com/itm/184033134370

There are more options of course too. You would want to get a preamp in the future, but I think you could go without one and a simple volume control for the time being.

Very interesting! It’s kinda hard to imagine needing something like that for those headphones. I get they’re super inefficient but this is on a whole other level lmao

So here is the thing, they can play and get up to volume just fine on something like a thx or a100. But the issue is that they just don’t sound that great imo, I think you would be better off buying a less needy headphone. With a good power amp they really just open up. You don’t need any of this, but IMO unless you are willing to go the high end power amp route, I think picking up a old he5 or the other hifiman mentioned above makes way more sense imo. The he6 and 6se are pretty hard to justify at that price. You have to realize they were flagship headphones for a reason, and giving them the high quality power they want is how you actually get what you pay for with them

I can see that lmao
Would definitely love to grab more can, but the lack of a job (none of the places I’ve applied to have got back to me yet) and my folks are making it a little difficult for me to do much of anything. That being said, I hope to really expand on all that when available.

Honestly the Zeos redux review on the 5SE got me interested in them again. Considering his copy was seemingly a fluke, maybe a new pair should sound fine. Though, the older HE5 looks really interesting too-

I mean the he560v1 sound pretty dang nice on the asgard 3 as well if you can’t get ahold of a og he5

Yeah, that also sounds fine with me. I noticed there’s alot of HE5s that are on sale that are modded, why is that?

Or, at least I think it was the HE5
