The long awaited launch of Valhalla 3 has been “confirmed” for next week (unless something else delays it). I will post more info once it becomes available.
Aside: I have been waiting almost a year for this amp .

wonder how hard it will be hit by tariff’s.
So far the $500 price point stands, but we shall see when the page goes live. The majority of the manufacturers they deal with are based inside the US, so it would depend on how much the raw materials go up due to tariffs.
As a side note.
These are likely the first tubes I will roll after living with the Valhalla 3 stock for a while.
I might order some nicer adapters prior to that too.
Well I’ve been waiting and watching schitts page so now the val is ordered!!!
My Valhalla 3 has shipped!
Now hopefully I will be home to receive it, as I don’t get back from Philly until Saturday night.
My Valhalla 3 is due to arrive tomorrow. Anyone else order one yet?
I’m still in money save mode. That said, you know what a freak I am for balanced stuff. So for me, I would be looking at the Jotenheim 2 as a replacement to the SA-1. That said, based on how you get on with it, I could reconsider. Many options on the table, including that humungous Mjolnir.
Yep but USPS hell on the way to Japan soooooo it could be a month or so lol.
Considering it takes 2 weeks+ to get my regular mail via USPS (sometimes), I wouldn’t doubt it. Hopefully the ones who routed your package were on the ball this month.
We all have to draw the line somewhere with our spending. Hence my skipping out on the ZMF drop, well that and someone purchased the ones I liked anyway.
Hopefully my Valhalla 3 makes it here today. I will keep you posted as to how well it does with a wide range of loads. Also, balanced or single ended a good amp design is what matters most.
Mjolnir 3 is quite the SS amp, but Jot 2 is a lot of amp for $400. I have a hunch that the Jot 2 will be the next to be discontinued though (following Schiit’s current trend). The Asgard successor is already in the works, and I am sure Jason is already kicking around some ideas for the Jot 3. We shall see what happens, as I have been wrong before.
I’m not holding my breath lol
Trying out my SJY Audio planars with the Valhalla 3 between late yesterday and this morning (Wiim Ultra>Mimir>Valhalla 3).
Can it drive Horizon Open?
Yes indeed, it is well controlled, airy, and has a more natural decay than on the Mjolnir 3 or Vali 3. The Mjolnir 3 still hits harder with planars, but no surprise there. The load is 15 ohms @ 88 db sensitivity, and while not the hardest to drive headphone I have it definitely requires some power (as well as the right synergy).
What about his earlier work, like the Starry Night V1 (first run)?
Well yes (for now), I just started my early morning listening session so… a little more time needed. The first few tracks in, it is like listening to the Starry Night via the Vali 3 with a huge power boost (I know, sounds odd to say). The Starry Night is a closed back, but it is a very open sounding one. Valhalla 3 further expands on the Starry Night’s strengths, by increasing the depth as well as width of the soundstage while not falling apart in the bass department (Vali 3 powered them well, but Mjolnir 3 was needed to get a solid grip on the low end; Valhalla 3 gets most of the way there). I find the Starry Night to be less picky with chains as long as you supply it with a decent bit of power. The headphone is 10 ohms @ sub 87 db sensitivity (the first run was known to be a bit off spec). Valhalla 3 is even able to get good piano reproduction through the Starry Night. Of course take all of this with a grain of salt as it is still early in my listening with this headphone in the above chain.
My experience mirrors @Ripper2860 experience when it comes to planar headphones. In the case of my Atrium Open, I am going to do a pad swap to try to get better synergy with the Valhalla 3 (we shall see how it goes). Atrium Open sounds good on Valhalla 3, but I think it could sound better (personal preference of course). Once I start tube rolling I am sure that my pad preference will change as well (as it did on the Vali 3). Don’t mind me, I am also a cables matter guy as well, so a lot a swapping gets done on my end (Tube, Pads, and Cables oh…my… ).
Okay, back to listening.

A little update, after 1 hour + of listening Starry Night V1 seems to have tripped the protection circuit in the Valhalla 3.
Update: *It happened again with another headphone, I think it might be running a little too hot, I just repositioned the amp, and I will report back.
Update 2: I reseated the tubes, and so far so good with the Horizon Open.
If there ever was a reason to take my words with a grain of salt, the following photo illustrates it perfectly.
Yeah…, I am a Schiit Head for sure.
That being said, I am really enjoying the Valhalla 3, and I can’t wait to roll the following tubes once they arrive.
Socket savers to the rescue!
The temps are way lower now, after following the suggestion of another Valhalla 3 owner.
Interesting that socket savers dropped temps that much.
Well the difference between burning myself on the case, and not doing so anyway.
