Schiit Audio Valhalla 3

In other news, my NOS tubes arrived early for the Valhalla 3.

Edit: They just warmed up, and pair very well with my Atrium Open.

Lol that’s very fair.

6sn7s slot in or are you using adapters?

Socket savers & adapters to get it to fit.

Man I have some Phillips E80CCs that I wish I could adapt, I bet they would be great in an otl design.

One of the owners in another forum plans to roll the power tubes. I am curious how that will turn out.

Saw that, didn’t he say 2 adapters were needed?

I would have to reread the post, as I thought he was using a socket equivalent tube.

A little update, I sent my Valhalla 3 back to Schiit for a replacement unit. The protection circuit was a little more sensitive on the batch that my unit came from, but all shipments as of a little over a week ago have the revised setting. My new Valhalla 3 is shipping out today, so I will be up and running again soon.

Dang I will probably have to send mine back as well…if I ever get to use it lol.

If yours shipped out 05/07 or later then it already has the change if I remember correctly. I was one of the first few orders, so this won’t effect most buyers.

Same brother same, mine shipped on 1 May.

It seems some units the protection circuit is more sensitive than others based on descriptions people gave. Hopefully yours is like mine was, where it didn’t present itself every 30+ minutes (exaggerating, but you get the point).

Let me know how your unit performs once you have it setup.

For sure and yeah I see a couple people don’t have issues but it’s still a bummer.

True, but it could be worse. You could have been one of the people who purchased Mjolnir 3 from the first batch. :joy:

I lucked out on that one since I purchased mine from the 2nd half of the original 500 units.

Yeah true I heard they had a ton of issues right off the bat.

It was one issue in particular in the form of a single capacitor. They switched it for a higher spec one in the 2nd batch, and after several owners sent their Mjolnir 3 in for repair, they advised the others to contact support to schedule a repair.

All companies have products that experience a part failure or other issues at some point. The important part is how they address said issue. Schiit has stood by their products and honored their warranties every time (as far as I know). It is part of the reason that I have been a customer since 2019.

Oh they’ve been great to me with my Loki max having a hum that wouldn’t go away even when not hooked up to anything in a different room from my equipment. Big fan of their CS for sure.
