Nice!

Let me know when you get it set up and warmed up.

Lol it will be a hot minute since all my gear is still in transit.

lol, Well whenever that arrives and gets unpacked I guess then.

I could run it from my RS6 but not sure if my wife would appreciate open back headphones in the living room lol.

Hooked up my Starry Night V1 to the Valhalla 3 this morning, and after 1 1/2 hours of listening no issues thus far.

Update: No issues with the Horizon Open thus far either.

The 6SN7s are seated back into the Valhalla 3 after testing the new unit stock.

Ordered a set of 12AXX adapters along with a pair of socket savers from Pulse Tubes Store. Since I am attempting to see how far this tube rabbit hole goes, I might as well invest into nicer adapters. I am most likely going to look for a nice pair of Raytheon and/or Sylvania tubes once the adapters arrive. The tubes for the Valhalla 3 will end up costing me more than the amp at some point this year.

Lol I did the same thing to try run some Phillips E80CCs since they did some things really special in my TA30.

Any recommended sellers for matched pairs of 12AU7 tubes? Slim pickings from my usual sellers.

Um not really, I’ve used the tube store.com for trying some random tubes. Buyee.jp is probably my favorite place to search tubes but it can be hit or miss on the info you can get on the listing.

Upscale audio has a selection.

Thanks, I will check them out once my adapters arrive.

I ordered a matched pair of NOS Sylvania 6SN7s in the interim (1950s).

They should arrive next week.

Finally cracked the seal, sings nicely with my HE1Kse and atrium. I was a little surprised that it doesn’t have the bass thump I’m used to with atrium but damn it comes in hard on the hifiman. Also Susvara absolutely triggers the protection circuit almost instantly.

Yeah, I posted in the other forum that on the Valhalla 3 my Atrium Open and Arya Stealth are more of a tie than on other amps. Planar headphones in general pair very well with the Valhalla 3 surprisingly. Susvara I am not surprised tripped the protection circuit (even Schiit Magic has a limit). I have yet to try the Hinode on it for fear of damaging the amp since it is 5.6 ohms and sub 87db sensitivity. Another owner stated that the Caldera Closed pairs well with the Valhalla 3 as well, and it is getting me hyped for when I get my Caldera Open.

It is funny that I am enjoying my planar headphones so much on the Valhalla 3 since I originally got it with the intent of it being my dynamic headphone go to.

Yeah I wasn’t expecting planars to work as well as it does. I’m still going to try out my E80CC tubes but the amp already sounds pretty lush/tubie being pre-ampped by the maximus that idk how long I’ll play with rolling.

I will be rolling for a bit, as I have yet to find the best pairing for the AO (for me anyway). Since I listen to a bit of everything, I will most likely have to have a few pairs of tubes on regular rotation (once I find the right ones).

Out of the box the amp is already very good though.

The PSVANE Horizon 12AT7-AT tubes are okay thus far, but I feel like they are missing something. I like the stock tubes and Raytheon 6SN7s more, and since the Sylvania 6SN7s just arrived, I might roll those tomorrow to hear how the fair with the AO. I still want to get a pair of Raytheon 12AU7s to roll as well.

That sounds like a great rolling plan, I’ve heard nothing but good thing about rathyeon tubes. I have some Sylvania somewhere but my life is still packed up in boxes lol.

Yeah, I got my first Raytheon 12AU7 tube for the Vali 3, and it just clicked for me. The Raytheon 6SN7s are very good as well, and is leading me to wanting another pair of Raytheon tubes.

When I made the move from Queens NY to Atlanta GA it took me some time after to get all of my stuff out of the boxes and sorted out. So many things are acquired over the years, and that was even after I gave away a lot of stuff. Hopefully you can give the Sylvania tubes a go once you get things sorted out. I will let you know my impressions of the pairing once I get the chance.
