almost nothing looks as good tonally as the he6se and i think it will go down as one of the best headphones of the last dacade especially for the price. i regret selling my adorama edition every day. would be interesting to hear some comparisons with the peacock, you can get the he6se and a 8 watt amp for less than a peacock.
At this rate China will destroy the intâl audio industry.
How so?
Most Chinese companies still throw loads of crap at the wall to see what sticks, a tactic that does not fly with a lot of people.
Theyâve completely disrupted the industry these past ten years. Yes they throw a lot of stuff on the wall to see what sticks, but clearly theyâre getting better and better. Low end of course but also high-end. Itâs impressive the progress theyâve made in a short time. I donât mean to sound disparaging.
Just look at IEMs. Chifi isnât the only game in town but itâs becoming more difficult to justify buying anything else.
Been a bit if a whirlwind lately so I havenât had time to send the first unit back to them. Iâll update here when I do.
I think that Asia-Fi as a whole is quite dominant on the market. Of course, European and American companies make good stuff, but itâs often quite overpriced. Asian companies have proven that they can make genuinely good products for a fairly low price. Now, of course there are a lot of companies that mass produce models and hope that a portion succeeds, but itâs the companies that focus on a few good products that deserve the previously-mentioned praise.
And there it is. As frustrating as it is, these other companies just donât get it and continue to get their asses kicked in the market because no one wants to pay the stupid prices some of these companies charge. Therefore they are forcing my hand. Before it was acceptable-ish because Chinese products as a whole werenât very good. That is just not the case anymore. I have some SMSL stuff on my desk and itâs pretty Fâing good! Case in point, I have a Bifrost and a SU-8 on my desk. Is the Bifrost a better DAC? I would say yes. Is it worth twice the price? The hard truth here is no, it isnât. I hate saying this, but it is what it is.
So if these companies want to compete, they know what to do. Or they can continue to get their asses kicked in the market. Or they can remain arrogant and hold on to the niche, richie-rich crowd and be happy with that. I donât see the trend changing any time soon.
In the case of these Peacocks, Now we are seeing actual high-end stuff coming from China. At least this is the impression I am getting from them. Will people willingly plunk down thousands for high-end Chi-Fi? I guess we will see. That might be a tougher nut to crack!
Iâd disagree. There are plenty of people that wonât blink spending 3k, 4k, 5k on headphones. Thatâs the hard truth, thatâs why all these companies still exist.
If you have a killer Asian-Fi headphone, it will still be overlooked by these folks. Theyâd rather believe in a 5k product than a mid-budget one with a high-end performance. In a not so nice way, they are pretty much snobs. They fund the high-end market. The people that donât mind spending several thousands on cables.
And there it is! I suppose you are right. And thatâs OK. I use to judge about that shit, but not anymore. If somebody wants to drink that kool-aid and buy that 10,000 dollar cable, go for it. Life is too short, man. Do what makes you happy.
Love you attitude!!!
Exactly. Iâve got my own happiness to take care of. You do you, do what makes you happy. Iâm minding my business.
If you feel like that cable fulfills you and satisfies your ears, then Iâm happy for you!
Wow, Zeos REALLY likes them!
Luckily for me, thatâs too expensive for me to even consider. At that price point I would likely be buying other models.
He does get you curious though, which is what a good salesman should do.
I guess that depends on what you want from a flagship headphone. Based on what he said, what Zeos said, and what I could piece together from the sound demo they would make a really good end-game for someone that wants the relaxed, sit down with a glass of bourbon and unwind type of sound. But I donât think they be something Iâd be interested in. More and more I think Iâm probably in the target audience for the 1266, if price werenât an issue, than I would be for this or the Empy.
I have read two other people voice that exact sentiment for the iBasso SR2âs.
Is the Peacock a highly improved SR2?
Hm⊠I wouldnât imagine these to sound like an improved SR2. When it comes to their higher-end hedphones, SIVGA/Sendy lean more towards the warmer and relaxed side, whereas I wouldnât place the SR2 anywhere close to âwarmâ.
My pair arrive tomorrow. Iâm looking forward to trying these, because the reviews make them sound like a baby Verite to me. And the Verite is one of my favorite headphones of all time. Iâll post impressions here.
And these are most definitely âwarmâ. People who donât like this should stay away from them.
I have never heard a Sivga/Sendy headphone or obviously the Peacock.
Just picking out quotes I heard or read.
I think a lot of people want a warm headphone until they get one and understand its usually a âlessâ scenario. the peacock freq response almost never once reaches or passes the harman curve. the slope from bass to treble is downward but the bass also rolls off early depending on seal. so you get normal lower mids and rolled off everything else starting in upper mids and down from 30-40hz, you are just getting less and paying more. the argument can be made that it might have good spacial and sound stage sounds that are good, i havent heard much besides zeos saying everything including hd800 and other planars dont even come close and i absolutely dont believe that. idk you dont normally see tonal character like this these days. reminds me of older headphones. im sure someone likes that i guess.
