šŸ”· Sennheiser HD280 Pro (new version)

It was a bit better, not drastic but perhaps it fit better on my head, so who knows lol

Wow, no comments here even after Zeos review? Not even something negative after his comparison to Focal Stellias? :stuck_out_tongue:

I might want to try these at some point, just to see what Zeos was talking about.

Like Zeos, I had HD280 Pros for 10 yearsā€¦ so Iā€™m really tempted to buy the new version for a neutral/studio sound with air and soundstage (the first version had none of this, drivers ā€œdiedā€ at 10khz).

ā€¦but I donā€™t need these. :stuck_out_tongue:

I got them right after I saw Zeosā€™ review. They sound good. Maybe I need to burn them in more cause I wanted more than ā€œgoodā€, but I canā€™t really complain for that price. Iā€™m considering returning them and getting another pair of closed cans. Not sure which thoughā€¦

Wish I had the old model on hand too to compare how much it changed.

Just got the new 280 pros a week or so ago and I am honestly impressed for $100. Perfect for throwing in my bag and not having to worry about them breaking because theyā€™re fairly cheap.

To my ears they seem to follow a similar signiature to the 58x and the NDH20s that I love so much.

Is there a better closed back for under $100?

It depends on what your use cases are and what you listen to and prefer

Like M0N said, depends on what you are using it for, and what kind of sound you like.

Have you heard any other Sennheiser before?

Yes, I have 558s that I enjoy. Looking for a pair of closed backs for quiet, night time listening that would be suitable for a wide variety of music. I went ahead and got the new version of the 280 Pro. Will be here tomorrow. Thanks amazon. And if Iā€™m disappointed Iā€™ll return them and try again I guess. Thanks.

Itā€™s a pretty nice headphone, hopefully you enjoy it :+1:

Iā€™ve not heard the 558s but I can tell you they do have a similar signiature to the two other Senneheisers thatā€™s I own. I learned that I enjoy the general Sennheiser signiature quite a bit now that I have 3 sets that I have no complaints about.

Yep, I got stuck on Sennheiser (in a good way) years ago when I got a pair of the original PX-100s. Iā€™ve never really looked back, but sometimes wonder what I might be missing out on with other brands.

These were amazing and led me into spending way more than I should on such things.

They look retro as hell and I love it

Donā€™t you have the legendary r10 that everyone says itā€™s best headphone ever made?

That is the one I am talking about yes lol. I have the bass heavy version (the non bass heavy was actually a bit bass light lol). I donā€™t agree with that statement, but I do think they were most likely the top dog at the time for a dynamic headphone when they came out. Now that is not the case for sure, headphones have moved a lot

Thatā€™s true they sound like a fun listen though

Yes very enjoyable, their presentation is what makes it unique to me, pretty immersive and hard to describe

We talking about Sony mrd-r10? Or something else?
