šŸ”¶ Sennheiser's New TOTL IEM the IE900

I finally found a dealer with these in stock (no longer - I think I got the last one ).

Getting them overnighted. Looks like a fun Friday night and weekend! I really want to hear a high end DD.

Try pairing them up with solid tube gearā€¦I was genuinely surprised by how much they scaled.

So, Iā€™m looking for advice.

I received these today. And, Iā€™m a big Senn fanboy. I owned Senn headphones (hd5, hd6 and hd8) for over 20 years.

But these just donā€™t fit. They are too shallow for my ears.

Am I doing something wrong?

I should say that Iā€™m a fairly big fella (6ā€™-6", size 15 shoes, andā€¦ wellā€¦ you knowā€¦ :+1:)

Tried rolling multiple tips (Spins, Spirals, Finals, Senda, Comply, off-brands) but nothing allows the ie900 to seat. They just slip out.

Anyone else have this problem? Or a solution?

the ie900 has 2 insertion depths. the stock tips have two notches that allow for a deeper fitā€¦i use spinfits because even though they donā€™t have the notch it will still work. so try the stock or spinfits and insert them only halfway.

Oh man, I can understand that with the big ears.

I solved this like this:

1.)

Cut off approx. 1mm from an unused eartip.

2.)

This ā€œrubber spacerā€ is pushed onto the nozzle.

3.)

Put your preferred tip over it.

4.)

vs.:

The sonic advantage that can arise is that the sound stage is very often enlarged. Because I have to solve this on some in-ears :man_shrugging:

So two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Very interesting solution. Iā€™ll give it a try.

I didnā€™t pick up on the fact that itā€™s the tips that have the notches. I remember reading about the two depths but thought it was on the nozzles (which obviously donā€™t exist). Iā€™ll try that.

Maybe I should read the instructions? Naw :smirk:

Both pieces of advice worked! The ring keeps the tip from sliding down, so I can test non-Senn tips and the first notch on the Senn tips provide a good seal. Now to A/Bā€¦

First impression is that the upper frequencies are doing what I hoped a good DD would do. Seems like a seamless transition into the highs. No highs appear to just be floating up there.

Might be also worth trying the regular AZLA SednaEarfit (not the short ones, and not the Xelastic nor Crystal) as they have stems that are a bit longer.

anyone find a good cable for these?

I was just about to ask! Iā€™d love to see some nice custom cables to go along with these.

Check Xinhs out. I got a custom cable done for my IE600 for less than $40 (depends on the cable you want) and you get to choose the total length, the hardware color and where it splits so its a custom fit for you

I asked them before but didnā€™t get a clear answer, ended up ordering a NiceHCK cable that has the right connector

Thats weird, they got back to me pretty immediately and said yes we offer a sennheiser MMCX option. It was $6 extra though

easiest way to communicate with them is to show them pics of what you want.
