PhilPhone is def. an endgame contender.
Beautiful collection there!
Well done. Is this collection stable now or will there be change? I would be pretty OK with that grouping. But ya know, that’s just me!
Looks like you will get your answer right here:
actually the picture is very misleading.
Mysphere, 1266tc (not pictured), susvara are staying.
009 may stay, Jr likely will not.
Verite open, lcd4z are not staying.
Lcd r and utopia are likely not staying.
LCD5, CRBN, Stealth, SR1a on the way or not pictured.
You need a larger table to showcase your collection
So you are saying there will be change, then?
Well either way it’s fantastic. I’m sure you are having quite a bit of fun with it.
Yeah, the gist of it is that everything comes and goes and msyphere, susvara and 1266tc seem to stay.
Havent heard lcd5 or CRBN yet though…
I must admit I am intrigued by the Mysphere set.
believe it or not, if I had to have only one headphone, I think I might choose the mysphere 3.2
Although very different than a traditional headphone, it is amazing imo
Tell me about it. It looks like something from the future, like from the newer/remake Total Recall or Minority Report.
Then you have the Abyss TC which looks like it’s a brace to correct problems with your head, skull, and/or neck.
Although this is probably not my ultimate end game, This is where I am today now that the SA-1 is here.
Not pictured are the Focal Elegias. I took the cable plant apart and have reconfigured so that now the Bifrost 2 is the central DAC and feeds the DA-8S, the SA-1 and the TA-20 through the switcher. I had to keep the SP200 in the system, so it’s being fed through the pre-out of the TA-20. I would not run that amp any other way, actually; doing it this way has given it a whole new life.
Also It’s nice hearing the Frost driving the speaker amp now. The sound is just a little richer and more natural than the already great sounding SU-8, which is really nice, but migrating the DA-8S onto the switcher is really big because it gives everything a more integrated feel to it.
Overall I’m very pleased with the system. It’s big fun having the different sound signatures available. They are all pretty amazing, too! This thing is gonna give me a lot of joy for a long time to come.
FLASH UPDATE!
As you can see in the pic above, the SU-8 is not running. The reconfig left that device out in the cold, so to speak. I was going to lift it, but I couldn’t do it. I really like this DAC. So I grabbed my trusty V40, took the Cinnamon USB cable and connected the SU-8 to the SP200 via balanced cables.
I now have a completely stand alone system! I plugged in the Elegias over the balanced jack, and oh my word! It’s freakin fantastic! I’m listening to it right now and it’s really surprising how good it is. A real testament to the SU-8, I think. It’s nice to have it back in play. And the mighty might SP200, now doing double duty! With this setup I can get my Atmos fix in and not have to mess with the main system.
Still missing that DAC upgrade but I don’t see myself upgrading my headphones ever… would rather put the money into 2ch.
God damn, whenever I see the HPA-1, my jaw drops. It looks so beefy, masculine, and sexy!
Main listening area (front room):
Home office (DT880 600 ohm are plugged into the amp):
Bedroom (Sendy Aiva plugged into the amp):
Flavors of the month…Exogal Comet DAC and ION amp combo has to be one of the best used value products on the market currently as an all-in-one solution to your desktop woes. If you find one used snatch it up, performance is exceptional, though I’m not crazy about the remote or interface. Monoprice K-Bass speakers provide all I desire in this environment, the transmission line design works well on my desktop.
Amps&Sound Pendant continues to be an exceptional tube rollers’ pleasure. It’s kicking ass w/ my Audeze pre-fazors…all of them, High Z out is quiet on my unit.
Pass HPA-1 is rock solid and just chugs along like a Juggernaut in all it does.
There’s a Border Patrol SE-i DAC hiding back there behind the A&S, too many soft genre’s it does well for me, that unit will be around a long time, always hanging out in the background of a bigger system for days I want to actually listen to music and not the equipment.
Last but not least sitting unobtrusively in the corner is a KOSS 95xx energizer patiently awaiting use, can’t beat the value of this piece.
Happy listening always and happy holiday season to all.
An update since 10/30. Some holiday deals happened so I decided to make one more move! Here is the new landscape.
No changes on the other side of the desk. I saw the DA-9 for a price I could not say no to. It has really added some oomph to the speaker side. Fantastic upgrade for next to nothing. I think this will do it for quite a while now.
