Very nice setup. If I didn’t get the Vali, a ZMF headphone would have been my choice.
I thought it interesting that we both seemed to be on similar buying trajectories and like warm headphones ^^ I hope people are still enjoying their phantoms. I had put off getting an aeolus and finally I was just like, it just has to happen. It was totally calling out to me.

I wanted a cross between the Phantom & the Elex, and that’s exactly what I think the Vali is. The warmth and full timbre, but with even better percussion and detail along with vocals that I don’t feel like I have to strain to hear. They are up front and clear.
I agonized over picking the Vali or the Aeolus or a used Auteur. How does the Aeolus compare to the Phantom for you?
Typically if I have a headphone that I think is clearly better than another, I’ll sell the “inferior” one. But to me, even though the Vali is a class ahead, the timbre and overall sound of the Phantom is still very pleasing to me. Probably won’t even sell it and anyone I’ve had listen to the Vali vs. the Phantom prefer the Vali but typically say, “but those other ones are SO good too!”.

It’s a behringer um2 audio interface that I was going to try and use with the modmic 5 I have. If I can get it sounding good enough I’d use the modmic with the aeolus and have an official ZMF gaming headset.

I haven’t directly compared them yet, but I’ll probably do so in the next day or so. I’d say that with suede universe pads that these are warm and a little dark (the phantoms more so), vocals are great, and instruments sound natural. They are the most detailed headphone I’ve listened to so far, but it’s not in your face with it.
I’ve also contacted zmf and asked if I could buy the stock aeolus pads (you can’t get it from the webstore) together with the universe leather perforated pads so I could compare and see how I like them.

My set up is not as uh fancy as everyone else lol but it’s my humble work. Can’t believe I’ve spent over 600 on audio. But I’ve chosen well thanks to zeos and everyone in this group. The only one missing is the TIN T2s which I gave away but I’m getting the t4s eventually, besides that micca rb42, fiio btr3, blon o3, beyerdynamics DT 770 pro (32 ohm) topping pa3 amp. And the MOST IMPORTANT factor of course my collection of cds there!
