I mean I already processed my return, stated clearly what the problem was and UPS is picking it up Monday, no charge to me… so I’m good for now. Definitely annoying though. lol
totally agree, delay of enjoyment on a delivered product.
please do me a favor and remove the lid on a rega when playing records, it’s a bad habit
Sorry to hear about you getting a repacked Turntable. P2 is still a great choice.
I hope you will get a nice one soon. Feel free to ask if you need any setup or upgrade advice.
So since UPS wasn’t coming to pick it up until tomorrow… decided to just set it back up and leave it running all day to see if it would work itself out. It seems to have improved quite a bit. Can’t really hear the noise anymore, I don’t think. I can still hear the motor, obviously, if i put my ear next to it.
It was definitely there at first after turning it back on, but after a few hours, Im not really hearing the wobble noise anymore. At first, I could hear it pretty well even a few feet away.
Does this make sense, is it possible that it has worked itself out?
Can still hear it very faintly if i put my ear next to the platter.
I don’t know anything about turntables specifically, but I still vote to return it. It’s clearly not a pristine unit, and you deserve one!
It is a mechanical thing, it needs some time for bearings and belts to break in.
go return it… there is allways some scraticing noise from the bearing of the platter which usually disappears after about a week of continuous use. I always recommend with Regas to change the bearing oil after it has been run in.
Since you have removed the belt and the noise was still audible, you should send the tt back. The motor should be almost inaudible from the factory and make just the usual humming.
Was there a piece of cardboard under the subplatter when you received the player?
In my experience, quality control at Rega is actually very good.
yeah, it had the cardboard taped under the small plastic platter piece.
well at leat the bearing survied the repackaging
well after listening through a whole album, I can say that the motor noise seems to be gone now… at least whatever was there is no longer being amplified through the headphones.
But I guess I’ll return it anyway and rebuy and hopefully get a proper brand-new turntable this time.
This is the right move… being shipped upside down might’ve had a negative impact on the lubrication too (didn’t consider that)… plain and simple you just shouldn’t have to deal with that
how are you feeling the 58x so far? specially in comparison to the 4xx
Never a good thing.
Never. …
Giggity …
The 58x are really great! You’re right about no a b testing necessary to notice the differing soundstage compared to the 4xx lol but I like it for that… it’s like being in a club vs a theatre… both are nice… vocals are amazing and the warm and dark presentation makes it a great companion to the 4xx… I couldn’t imagine there being two better open back recommendations under $150… I have no regrets about the handful of others that I purchased as well but I could’ve happily gone straight here after the koss stuff
Niceeeeeee, good to hear you enjoy both of them! Was really curious considering u came from the 4xx. And yeah I agree that the smaller Soundstage can be a good thing. Vocals really are amazing huh? It’s ridiculous to listen to them sometimes
Listening to nick cave earlier was a treat
