yeah, not bad… lol. Return was picked up yesterday by UPS and this one arrived pretty quickly. Again, upside down in the shipping box… so i was a bit nervous, but this one turned out perfectly fine.

It really is. Vinyl isnt something I’m super interested in, but turntables have a huge charm.

What the actual f**k lol glad all is well

And where is the pics of the setup? And the review lol

So I still have less than 5 hours of listening time but I’ll give my initial impressions. My only frame of reference is my HD600 on a Darkvoice. Unfortunately, I had to sell both to be able to afford my new setup, but I don’t regret doing so. On comfort I’ll give it to the HD600, but not by much. It took a while to get used to the sound difference though, because of how much the brass instruments stood out on the HD600 with the DV. The trumpets and sax aren’t right THERE as they used to be, which initially concerned me. As I kept listening though, I started noticing new sounds on songs that I must have heard at least dozens of times. Subtle things, like quiet vocal harmonies and certain instruments that I didn’t know where there. It’s very refreshing to experience old songs in a new way.

What I’ve been enjoying the most though, is having a much bigger range of genres to listen to. With the 600 on the DV, I used to stick to very few tried and true sounds. Mostly jazz, acoustics, and a few others. That is because a lot of songs in other genres would sound muffled and veiled. When there were too many things happening at once, the sound seemed to mush together and it would become off-putting to me. The Elex on the SS is very different in that regard. I’m glad that I can now start enjoying songs in my music library that have been neglected for years. Not to say that I find the 600/DV combo to be bad. If I could afford to have everything I definitely would. It’s just more niche. This seems like the more practical, all-around option for me. I’m sure there are better cans/amps out there, but I’ll now stop worrying about what new gear to get and be happy with what I consider to be my personal endgame. I say this as I wait for my SIVGA SV006 to arrive today lol But hey, those are closed backs for late night use so I’ll make the exception!

PS. Front SPDIF looks ugly!

Wow the cables match nicely, is that the Archel 2 or 2.5?

If only the optical cable was not so bulky, you could easily have run it underneath to make for a much cleaner setup. But then again the bend radius would have been extreme.

Nah! Dont fixate on the front cables It looks good!

Other dacs might have a different cable arrangement, but yours is better looking!!!

It’s the 2.5. You’re right that the cables coincidentally match, could have been worse!
I’ll be later looking into zip tie shenanigans for cable management.

I love playing with zip ties.

Do you have the dac set to maximum gain? If yes how loud does the amp manage to drive the elex?
