Wow thats so cool. So thats the Borealis? Since its closed i wonder if it sounds like a Autralis? Max Settings reviewed these and said the closed version Australis was the best closed headphone on the market period. But the headband! so shambly! 2 thin bars and a seatbelt headpad! lol. Did he attach the Audeze headband or did you? Thing about the Audeze headbandd is its expensive at 120$ i wonder if theres something like it cheaper? Aurorus audio now has a blue cover for their headphones on their site for 5$

Yeah, they don’t scream out $900 when comes to looks and build quality. If it is a souped up HD580/600, I’d take a punt if it was around or below the Elex price point of $600, which is still more than a brand new HD600; pristine used HD580’s come in at around $280 or so. Still, even at $600, I’d still have issues with its build quality. From reviews, the timbre of these is close to the HD580 and HD600 but aren’t quite there yet. IMO, another argument against their price point.
Yeah imo they are hard to recommend unless you are looking for a very specific headphone. I have been enjoying mine, but they are a hard sell. Build and comfort are just fine for me (I would say a bit better than the elex lol for comfort). I think the funniest thing is though that I personally don’t feel they take too well to a tube which is pretty entertaining when they are trying to go off of a 650

NGL I was slightly concerned about the hair lol. I tend to keep my cats away from estats and some planar (but dynamics are relatively safe)

I just pulled them all out for a second for a pic. That is my big 5 now, plus the Meze 99’s. I sold the HD58X’s and the HD600’s. Hopefully, the Beyer T5p.2’s are heading to Toronto on Monday.
The 610’s are a recent addition. An open box special.

No they’re not. They are closer to the HD600, than to the HD58X.

Yeah, at 32ohms of impedance, it was predictable that the Aurorus does not play nice with popular tube amps, specifically OTL’s that are commonly used for driving high impedance Sennheiser cans (~300ohms). Probably transformer-coupled tube amps (OTC’s) pair better with the Aurorus like the EC ZDT Jr. pictured in that review.
The hd580 jubilee is pretty much a 600, the 580 precision is a different headphone

I have many transformer coupled tube amps as well, and they did sound nice, but I personally preferred them on equally tiered solid state
