My impression is that is one beautiful looking amp.
I’ve only listened to 3 songs (Brubeck take five) with the 1266 and HP3s thus far so probably need at least a week to kick the tires. Initial impressions it doesn’t have enough juice to power the 1266’s properly but it’s great with the HP3s. Just as good as the Phonitor maybe a touch cleaner but slightly less bass. Will have to try with my LCDX/3’s later and try the balanced cables… I also need to get a balanced cable for the HP3 to get better output from both.
Holo Spring will be here on Saturday so can’t wait to kick out the Schiit.
I still really like my Bifrost 2, but holy crap this Spring 2 is on another level of smoothness and details! I honestly like having both here.
Thanks to hifi dreams for recomending the m500 as a dac. I really like how flat it is.
AWKT-my main headphone currently. Its really nice in that it doesnt really pidgonhole the bass to sound a certen way but as a result bass lite tracks will shift focus to the instrumentals and vocals. Best with opera and metal(esp power metal) music.
TBC later
Just to provide an update with the Mammoth KTE… It’s simply my best HP amp that I own! It brings out the best in the LCD-X & HP3s. In fact it has me questioning selling the LCD-3, 1266 TC, and my phonitor as I think I’ve found the sweet spot in terms of value. We’ll see once I get the spring kte in and get a chance to demo a Burson Conductor 3X and a Mini GSX.
The Mammoth doesn’t have tons of power but it’s very clean. Dynamics are good in my hps and the sound signature might be a touch on the bright side of neutral for my tastes but it’s very close. The amp is built a tank the remote is high quality I just think it’s a great buy for what they had it priced at.
Lookin good man did you do a write up on the mammoth yet? I see it’s still on sale and I’m curious why it’s $1000 off
Not yet… I thought I bought the last one but glad to hear they have Mammoth KTEs still in stock! I probably will need another month with it before I can do a proper assessment. I’ve spend a grand total of 3 hours with the mammoth and 15 min with the spring so will be a bit.
If I was making a gut call on weather it’s worth the $500 then 100% yes just not with anything like the 1266/Susvara/HE6 power requirements. The LCDX/HP3s sound perfect on the Mammoth. I’ve also tried the pre-amp function on my event 20/20 BAS v3 powered active bookshelves and it was a considerable improvement.
Once I chose the amp from the drop down menu it is showing out of stock unfortunately. Glad to hear early impressions are positive. Enjoy that beastly new dac
Is that a stock cover or did you fabricate that somehow? I had to look twice. Very cool
It was a short run they did with the picture of the internals on the top.
Current set number 2’s/ TV endgame.
JBL’s and MaiA pro takes a break and Genelecs and RME are game.
Speakers are factory ordered, date: 10/2020. So fresh as they can be, newest version of the 8330.
Quick tested the RME with Elex, they worked and did not blow up. Volume was scary loud at first! lol
Tomorrow actual room measurements and tuning and tweaking. Oh, suits you sir.
Very nice. Super clean
Everything has been tuned and measured.
I freaking like a lot, i mean a lot of the RME, as the preamp.
It’s very clean and accurate, surgical levels of precision.
The 0.5db bass or treble add/remove function in the remote is so awesome and AutoDark. Freaking nice.
Add little bass no problem, oh treble bit high, no problem.
± 1 dB at 43hz with this setup. Also i like the gentle 0.5db volume adjustment.
Freaking funny that the sound sounds like it is coming from my center channel and it’s turned off.
JBL’s ain’t got nothing compared to these little Genelec’s! They also so clean, neutral and sound is…
It’s MUSIC!!
if it’s worth doing it’s worth overdoing.
Im very happy now. All G B A B Y !!!
Finally can show my collection! Somethings may go in the near future, and I may get a new IEM on 11/11 as my current is having some issues. But alas, here we are!
So we have FX Audio DACX6 and JDS Labs Element II as sources; Akg K712, Sennheiser HD58x, Focal Elegia and Kuba Disco as over-ear headphones; Fiio BTR5 and Tin T2 (on a P1 case) as my portable/IEM solution; Micca RB42, powered by the Loxjie A10 and (future) SMSL SA300.
Now the Kuba Disco I will probably sell, some friends will audition it soon. Also, the DAC X6 and one of the power amps will probably go, as I need to clear up some desk space.
My Tin T2 currently has a problem with the mmcx connection: the left keeps losing sound and I have to rotate the connector until it works. I don’t know if it’s the cable or the IEM itself, but I need to fix it as I often use them on my work. I am also thinking about maybe getting something new on 11/11, maybe a Shure Tape Pro / 2. Let’s see how things go.
Ooo black widow why did Eddie current leave us
That’s sweet man!
