This is my current setup. I’m mainly listening to speakers but when it’s late I grab a pair of headphones:
Good old Fx audio Tube 1
I’m actually only using it for my rear speakers which I didn’t show here. I connected the pre out of the Denon to the FX audio for more gain and to a lepy amp. My rear speakers are connected to both postives of the lepy amp output to create a ‘fake surround’ in the back.
BTS? nice. Dope setup! I had actually considered the same speakers u got, look sick. Interesting collection of headphones too! Love ur set up
Got the LS50 for only 666€ here in Germany.
Paired them with that older generation Denon amp. I first wanted to get a new amp from Yamaha or Denon but these old models are not that much worse and can be found for under 400€ on eBay
Some lazy snap shots of my end game both former and present. I think every 10 years I’ll solidify an end game for the decade.
Past End game from 10 years ago ~
Open Back: Dt880 600 ohm
Closed Back: Dt770 600 ohm
Bass Cannon: Sony XB500
For something different: Modded T50 RP long gone.
Current end game~
Open Back: GL2000
Closed Back: Aeon 2 Closed
Bass cannon: campfire cascade
For something different: Audioquest Nighthawks
So nice to have detachable cables now.
Today I “finished” my low budget end game collection!

- FiiO E10K into the Monoprice Liquid Spark (may replace e10k for d10s)
- Shanling UP2 (might get replaced by btr5 or hip dac at some point)
IEMs & Earbuds:
- Tin T2: for general listening
- Moondrop Starfield: for smooth and relaxed listening
- Moondrop Shiroyuki: for when I need to be able to hear surroundings
Headphones:
- Grado SR60e: newest arrival, mostly for classic rock
- Hifiman HE400i 2020: for all other music
- DT-880: Was replaced by HE400i because it broke during mod, but now it’s fixed. On the road headphone?
- CM MH752: for gaming and gaming only, really don’t like it for music. Might get replaced by the DT-880 with a v-moda boompro or something.
- Koss Porta Pro: On the road when I can’t carry much.
- Koss KSC75: Mostly as reference and very sporadic use
- Koss KPH30i (loaned out): Solely to complete the collection
Took me 10 months to start from old MDR v6, get into headphones seriously and finally settle on this setup. Last April I entered slippery slope with pair of Starfields and this x3II (which is only thing I kept since then, mostly in my car)

niceeee, love your setup. If you feel like your laptop is taking up too much space you may consider getting a used mac mini and running it headless using audirvana and using your phone to control playback. Or you could go the PI2AES route. But what’s most important is that it works for you. Enjoy all that awesome gear!
How much of a bass canon is the Cascade? I put the Dekoni choice suedes on my DT1990s and its insane, almost too much… almost
Are the mids/highs totally sucked out?
That finish is amazing!
Sort of reminds me of the Oliver Peoples Cary Grant sunglasses that has the Bordeaux Bark finish!
Mids and highs are still present. It’s a refined bass cannon is what I’d call it. The bass doesn’t drown out the rest of the frequencies but still makes it’s presence dominant. Vocals come out clear but very very slightly recessed or maybe not at all? I can’t really tell right now. some would say the bass creeps into the mids but it doesn’t make it muddy or off putting and I like bass so I like how it sounds. It’s thick and full sounding. The highs are there without being sibilant. I would say they have a thick, full, smooth, and an in your head kind of sound signature that’s comes off warm and not dark with very good resolution and clarity. Also very easy to drive. More bass quality than quantity imo not that its missing too much in quantity but that’s just a personal preference. I want ALL the bass but that might be unreasonable.
I’ll need to try the dt1990s with suede. I have those suede’s on another pair of dt880s with amiron wireless filters and the bass also seems almost too much for a pair of dt880s. Amazing how it brought out the bass for that pair.
total budget endgame… second hand Sivga Phoenix + Motu M2, also Fiio FH3 chilling on the side.
Received the headphone stand today actually & happy about the wood - fits nicely.
Reached my 2021 endgame… for now…
Desk setup with Soncoz LA-QXD1 DAC feeding my Asgard 3 and Geshelli Erish. Also on the desk is a miniDSP driving my Audioengine a2+ speakers (room corrected, makes all the difference). Listening chair setup with Topping E30 and L30 (I call this stack “fireball”, one day she’ll blow, but until then I’m enjoying the sound).
Mainly listening to my Sundara and 6xx at the desk, with hartaudio cables to switch balanced to single ended. Grado SR80e at the listening chair. On the shelf are Sony CD900st, Sennheiser hd280 pro, Koss kph30i (stock and “ultra”).
Ikko oh10 are the main IEM, with Blon-03, and Campfire Comet for when I want something different. Audioquest Dragonfly Red and Fiio BTR5 for portable life.
Driving all of my DACs via Chromecast Audio pucks, from Qobuz/Roon. (Hardwired in with ugreen ethernet adapters.)
And the key to overall sound perfection are the weights sitting on top of all my gear, minimizing microphonics (hahaha! But seriously, they help keep shit from sliding around when I’m plugging in.
Really enjoying my gear, gives me a lot of options and fun. Not sure my next move, but not in a hurry…
Bruh, not counting the Koss headphones in your endgame shot over the HD6xx is the real crime.
Hey, don’t judge. Plus with a tube amp they are pretty nice (so I’ve been told).
Oh for sure! They aren’t perfect, and the Sundara really expose their limitations. But they are fun for now, and I’ll likely keep them long term as a point of reference to compare other headphones to. HD660s are the obvious upgrade path, once the bank account recovers But not in a hurry right now.
I am curious. How is the match with BF2 and the thx789?
