Yea i think 5XX is a keeper. It’s a very weird headphone (in a good way ) , nothing i’ve heard in the $200 - $300 range really sounds like it. It’s kinda treble-y and has a big sound stage, lots of energy and punch if you give it some power. It’s kind of similar to the Elex with some of the delivery in that way I guess. More bass then im used to on planars, but i haven’t had many so that may not be saying much.
It’s less like wearing headphones and more like hanging some small speakers from your head. Not the most comfortable but they get better after a few days of use.
They seem very appealing when you put that way, I’m glad you liked them.
I’d love to try them out, when I auditioned the elear (stock pads) they had just a little too much slam, I’ve read the elex has even more, and the dt1990’s treble gave me a headache. Maybe I need to get me one of those 5xx
Yeah i really recommend trying a pair out. Not 100% sure i’d use them as my only headphones. But they sound so different than a lot of other cans that they totally justify having a spot.
Of all the equipment I have this is my favorite setup.
Geshelli Labs Jnog
Geshelli Labs Erish
Harmonicdyne Zeus
Hart Audio XLR cables in electric purple
Hart Audio 3.5 mm interconnect cable in electric purple (replaces the terrible stock cable on the Zeus)
Shielded USB cable in purple (I’d use optical, but the PC in this setup doesn’t have it)
This grouping is amazing sounding to me and it’s by far my most favorite combination of gear.
Thanks, hard not to fall in love with it. The window is north facing so I don’t get direct sunlight but I can only imagine how they’d look with some direct sunlight hitting that finish.
Look at how gorgeous that finish is… do you think I could take credit for that? Yeah a lot of under the radar discussion on these, good following, I’ve been enjoying them.
I wound up buying them directly from Philharmonic Audio, after doing the math, I would have saved myself only a couple hundred bucks and would have never gotten that finish.
Only few bad things in mirror like finishes.
Finger prints, being extra careful with cleaning and dusting.
Unpacking, moving and possibly repacking. Nightmare fuel.
