Thanks for the explanation! It’s fascinating to read about the evolution of the Anomaly.
We are on set no 311 (LOL!). I added a previous feature which is a snakey vent at 0.65mm and about 12mm. What this does is basically turn down the midbass and increase subs which cannot escape the vent length so they are captured. Midbass sees less impedance and gets diminished. 7db ear gain, linear treble, -6db over 10k give or take as a coupler can be wacky
311 that’s crazy. I remember the tubing from an older version. Do you feel that you’re getting into endgame territory, i.e. close to finishing it?
I can’t say until all the factors align, IE, super staging AND FR that means business. So far I am not satisfied. Im treating this like a set I would review. Either it is amazing or it isnt, and I wont release something subpar.
Love the drive. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out in the end
I’ve mentioned this before but IMO we need more people / companies aiming to do what you are trying to accomplish. There are (again, IMO) so many good sets out there that are basically variations on a theme. I feel we need more mould breakers that offer something new and exciting.
I actually have a personality defect/trait which is when there is clearly a way everyone does something, I have to do it differently and usually this backfires. Sometimes though, all the work pays off. Oh well, at least it’s fun to try.
@shortbus have you tried your Anomaly outdoors on maybe a bicycle? I feel kinda dumb since I made an open back iem myself using the huayunxin wukong shell since I wanted even more bass than my previous diy iem but forgot that open back also means a lot worse isolation so all that extra boost ended up being worthless…literally one step forward two steps back situation lol.
Ended up pretty much sealing the big back vent on that shell and i prefer it over their IEX clone shell.
Yeah I use these iems every 3 days doing mountain runs. Im just not going to worry about isolation. The venting is too much to care, plus I kind of like hearing outside sounds.
Got it. I was pretty sad when i realized I also got more wind noise from it…like a lot more…
im sure there are ways to get more isolation without wind noise, but for me i get a little more 3D mojo from hearing outside sounds, less occlusion
I prefer to have an average iem levels of isolation for my iems that I use outside. Since I prefer to not have to increase the volume to compensate…but i am usually around volume 1/20 on my phone (cant get it lower that is). Probably in the 55-65db range. Or at least that is what i tend to be with my speakers.
Im closer to 86db when blasting down mountains.. haha
I haven’t updated in awhile, im here.. which is perfect mids to treble. Im unhappy about subs, but the rest is full TOTL insanity. So so very close yet so far.
Your dedication to getting it perfect is impressive. Hope you’ll find a way to remedy the subs.
The subs do seem to take a hit when you turn it into open back. At least on the wukong shell to my ears when making it open back the mid-bass was more prominent that way, i dont know if the sub actually lowered or if the added mid-bass just made me perceive it that way though.
I gotta ask for some help here. I have an issue with the clone 711 coupler (s) that I haven’t been able to figure out over the last few years and I’m about to go insane. I have to get this fixed..
Take one iem which is the Tanchjim Origin and is PaulWasabi’s personal pair which he measured. I got his iems to review, did a graph and WHAT THE F#$@
Here is my signal chain in case it helps:
PC Realtek Microphone ‘IN’ on back of PC → 711 clone coupler via 3.5” jack
Room EQ Wizard with no compensation file loaded
IEM plugged into a Radsone ES100 via USB from the same PC.
I made damn sure there are no effects on the realtek mic input, so no echo cancellation or whatever else. I then cross-tested on a different computer which is a MS surface tablet using the USB Black box everyone uses from Aliexpress with the same 711 plugged into the mic input.
Both setups give the exact same graph which is the yellow one. Im literally at a loss and I’ve already purchased ANOTHER 711 and tried it and it did the same damn thing.
HELP! I need this measurement rig to work for christs sake.
Strange. What does Paul use? Try to copy his setup maybe?
I’ve asked him before but I’ll give it another shot.
No chance of any clogging or debris in the nozzles?
