Back to IEMs. I had to do some testing to understand why sometimes these shells produce slightly different results.. which arnt really hearable but graph-able.
We can see here this gap is too much, the driver can shift by some tiny amount when building. This is not acceptable.

Deeming that not acceptable is something most brands wouldn’t do seeing how you can’t really hear it. But the fact you are is a testament to your craftsmanship IMO.

Thank you sir! I would accept nothing less myself and so, it must be fixed.
Another issue, some drivers are built like shit with too much glue for the wires leading to shell-mating issues. I will take this up with the manufacture.

A new review of TT:
‘I tip-rolled TT. Velvet, Velvet Wide, Prism, 07, S&S, and coffee tips. TT, to me, scaled best with the coffee tips. S&S tips came second but sounded too much in my face. TT scales great with volume. Amazingly so, but something is up with the mids that sound a little dampened? Even at really high volumes, the bass impact hits super hard but is not the most detailed. I’m mainly comparing the TT to the CraftEars Omnium because I just tested the Omnium yesterday. I would put TT above the UM MAX for sure. The fit is perfect. It’s still pretty hard to tell when the ear tip is sitting properly, but that’s not an issue. I wish the nozzle had a lip so that ear tips would not slip off.’
‘Tech-wise, I would give the TT an 8/10. Clean and Clear techs. Same level as Studio 4’

I have an actual important question that people might not be able to easily answer but here it is: 2 Graphs: These are 95% the same driver, the last 5% is the internal hemholtz chamber being different.
What do people prefer?

probably the green-ish one as it makes the peak around 3k less peaky by contrast.

HuaYunxin had the same problems, they ended up removing the glue all together that exposed the voice coil leads which became problematic for me since i couldn’t work on the back volume tuning.
As for the gap problem. You could add bracket/spacers that hold the DD in place and still have clearance for your tuning. If that’s a requirement for your design IMO
Also, if you are confident, you could take a blade and scrape some of the extra glue off, the voice coil wires should be well below that region to not get scraped by it.

IIRC those are expensive drivers right (the TT ones)? Bit disappointing that they deliver them like that.

They are expensive, they sound ok but i wouldnt say they sound good for the price. (This was like almost 30 bucks for the 15mm DD?)
Worst part is if the diaphragm accidentally gets crinkled, even if you try and recover it, it looks bad
This model by default should have had the plastic diaphragm cover with the sound outlets. Lucky it wasn’t my personal project. My friend wanted to try a diy earbuds and just gave up lol

Im about as pissed off as I can possibly be. I wont go into details but in the end, the drivers I wanted to get, I didn’t get and thus I had to try and work around this shit I do have. I did some things I thought would help fix and ended up here which is an odd place to arrive.

Sorry, I should have mentioned, but its the JM1 with -10db tilt compensation. Which means in theory this sounds nearly perfect.. lol.
