Amazing :star_struck: Much respect for sharing your thoughts, design process, driver, porting. Very cool to see. The FR looks very fun, and unique.

Truer words were rarely spoken :+1:

Just watched it and came away hugely impressed. The porting/venting is definitely something else.

Dark Magician x EJ07 holy moly that’s some crazy audio genes right there. Congrats man on your labour of love they look :sunglasses: please don’t shellac the rest of the shell, a matt shell with shiny face plate would be super fly imho…

Interesting, that sounds good to me.

Since you’re using ABS, you could try acetone vapour smoothing instead of shellac. There are tons of techniques out there on-line. Test it out on some failed prints and see if you like the results. You might have to mask some areas (e.g., the vents) where dimensions must be maintained, but it might be worth a try.

I tried a little of that just to see, it actually didn’t do anything. Im not sure if this is true ABS, but it’s labeled as such. It’s worth revisiting

Just saw the post concerning the retune of the 07m. I would find a video on how you go about retuning an IEM extremely informative (but can fully understand if you’d choose not to so as to avoid divulging any secrets). Shells also looked dope btw.

He has shown this in older videos on his YouTube channel

Thanks! Then I’ll browse the older older ones (only took a look at the newer older ones).

Sorry for disappearing. Life is busy right now and I had a lot of soul searching to do in terms of how I wanted anomaly to turn out. In the end, I do not want to replicate other peoples work. The clean mid shelf kind of thing with boosted subs is not what I like, even though it is ‘accepted’ as being correct.

Decided to make an iem that is actually an earbud in an iem shell. This means fully open back (really), huge front venting, low subs as a result. The driver is press-fitted into the shell and has no air seal along with a massive front vent inside a hemholtz resonator. You can hear about %50 of sound through the iems, so just pausing music lets me talk to people and hear outside stuff. It creates an effect that is similar to ear buds or open back headphones. Sounds do indeed seem to come from all directions including behind the head and below and above you. Of course this may be my imagination playing tricks on me, but after a few weeks of testing, It’s hard to ignore at the very least.

Next, I decided to emulate the proper ear canal volume of air that is taken up by normal iems being inserted. This leads to a much longer nozzle tube than normal.

All I can really say is I don’t think this has been attempted before in this format. It does take me about 5 mins of brain burn to sink into this tuning but after that, the x factor is off the charts.

Here is a non-smoothed graph,

Graph kinda reminds me of the Falcon pro.

Sounds nothing like the falcon pro actually, it’s basically an earbud using the dark magician DD.

I don’t expect people to like the graph at all. Oh well.
