The midbss at EJ 07m is a preference and a kind of tuning, not a tonal weakness. For all those who are trying to spend EJ 07m with a tonal weakness in the middle bass, I want to say that the graphics show everything and I see no problem. Otherwise, we have to reconfigure all IEMs that do not suit someone’s taste- I suggest we start with Monarch OG . I think that EJ 07m has the right amount of midbass / subbass in the ratio 40/60, which for me is absolutely perfect. Enjoy!

I could not agree more. The EJ07m midbass is perfect the way it is. IMO - Any more mid bass and mids become less clear and bass becomes too boomy for my preferences.

In the end, it all comes down to preferences. Luckily I know what mine are…

The Monarch MKII is a step up from the EJ07m though. The dynamic driver works specifically only in the sub bass frequencies which allows the entire bass region to be less bloated and more detailed (yet less slamming in the upper bass). MEST MKII is quite congested in this area vs the Monarch MKII. The Monarch MKII is slightly warmer (which I prefer) (so lush) and has much better treble extension with no sibilance. Not to mention, it feels like the Monarch shells were custom made for my ears. It’s a perfect fit for me.

Both are awesome IEMs and I love them both. EJ07m being half the price of the Monarch MKII should set off alarms in anyone’s head looking for true top of the line tuning. For those listening to older/poorly recorded recordings, the lava might be great, but not for my library. I listen to modern recordings and I do not listen to classic rock.

IMO, the EJ07m should be the #1 pick for anyone looking to buy a tribrid around $500. Just be sure to have some oxygen filters on hand if the short nozzles create resonance issues as they did for me.

When in doubt, just consult the list that really matters… Crin and my ears must agree. Timmy too. For the record… That’s an S+ for tonality and the EJ07m FR is extremely close to the perfection that is the Monarch MKII.

Each to their own, I think I would prefer the bassier tuning (even at the expense of some mids clarity) simply because it’s a more engaging sound to me. And I’m a sucker for bass.

Hello Resolution! I’m glad you’re getting involved again. Your opinion is always valuable to us. What do you disagree with? I say just that! Perfect middle bass for me. I just hear a little more subbass. I also listen only to modern recordings, not classic old albums and I find 07m perfect, with a perfect bass shelf. I do not agree with the new tuning - Lava, because the bass will be too boom for me. Now everyone will send 07m OG to China for readjustment, thus losing the charm of 07m OG.

I saw this and was forced to say something to set the record straight. There is nothing wrong with the EJ07m tuning and I definitely do NOT find its upper bass tuning a weakness. It’s tuning especially in that area is nearly flawless for my preferences.

Just look at my my target curve which was made over a year before the EJ07m was released.

I’m pretty sure @nymz will agree since his new target curve is 95% identical to mine.

I could care less what others do. I think the EJ07m is a fantastic IEM any IEM enthusiast should own.

Variety is the spice of life. I’ll probably buy the Lava for the hell of it as I buy just about everything out there and I love the EJ07m and EJ07. Shuoer have worked magic with those IEMs.

The new IEM might be great, I might love it as a different flavor if it can retain clarity through the new bass emphasis but I feel it’s a big red flag when anyone says there is anything specifically wrong with the EJ07m’s tuning. Especially when I personally feel the tuning is mostly ideal especially for it’s price point.

But… honestly after purchasing the Monarch MKII, my appetitive to purchase any other IEM has really taken a nose dive. Especially after buying and reselling the U12T comparing it to the Monarch MKII.

If anyone wants a MEST MKII, I’d straight up trade for another Monarch MKII.

I am sorry that you had mixed experiences in the community, but from my perspective audiophile community (especially this forum) is nothing but amazing. In general very helpful, respectful to other subjective opinions and friendly as hell. Head-fi my be a little bit worse as it is much bigger, but my local polish forum is also a great group of people.
I feel like people who love music (or love spending money on gear ) are very keen towards each other as compared to other groups of people that I am attending forums of (engineers, electronics, basketball groups)

Is the Monarch mkii a real upgrade coming from the ej07m, like the ej07m itself was a upgrade from the Tea?

Also considering the fact that the higher you push, the less you get when it comes to áudio…
