I got my Olina SEs back from @domq422 and put this combo (NiceHCK RubyCat + TS-400 foam tips) on them and was pretty impressed with how it gives just a little extra body to the SE and makes them sound pretty clean and smooth.
Then I put them on EA500 and was like “fuck these blow Olina out because they’re nearly as smooth but have way more dynamic range”. It’s not going to give you that sub-bass over midbass feeling if you want @ToneDeafMonk’s modded levels of sub-bass. But if you like stock EA500 (I’m on the stock black filters while all my other filters are with @MMag05) but want it to have a little more body, this is a winning combo.
Trying some slightly larger than usual Final Es, no mods, desktop setup… and I’m loving the bass I’m getting, especially for a set that rolls off. Nice warmth and smoothness to the vocals. Still plenty of details and appropriate sense of space.
Well I’ve had the EA500 in for a lengthy grading session today, no complaints besides being too bright for some Queen tracks. I’ve been pleasantly surprised when Linkin Park or Nightwish has shuffled on.
It has been many months now and yes, the EA500 is still going strong in my book. Still using it as well and I cannot seem to let it go especially when I have a trip with my family or friends, the EA500s has just been my go to IEMs to use for most of the time. It’s like wine for me at the moment, it just keeps getting better and better to listen to, and I’d bet even better if at some point I can try some of the mods for it to give it a bit of spice as well.
Hello! I’m considering buying the EA500. What I’m looking for is an IEM that allows me to enjoy any genre, a “Jack of all trades,” colloquially speaking. I’m a bit concerned about the lack of sub-bass that I see in the graphs and how this might affect genres like metal or EDM. My previous favorite iem are the venerable BLON 03, and I love how “lively” they sound, very emotional hehe.
Based on my preferences, are the EA500 the best option? Or the Olina SE? Under 100$€
Interesting, I hadn’t considered that option. How do they compare to the EA500? Are they superior in everything? Are they just as versatile?
Sorry if there are too many questions or if this is not the right thread. It’s my first purchase over $50 (and my last in quite some time, money is tight). I don’t want to make the wrong decisión, and I want them to be versatile haha
EA500 and Panda would be my two choices for one-stop shopping under $100. If you want more energetic treble and a brighter sound go with EA500. If you want a warmer tonality and planar technicalities, get the Panda.
I think both would do well, but I’d pick Panda if I were in your shoes
EA500 is super good, but a warning on certain metal music can become to hot. I am not that sensetive to treble so it might just be since the mid ear gain is raising quite fast. Same is also true for the EW100p.
But still this must be one of the most resolving sets under $100 and has wonderful tonality.
I only use my iems outside, while I’m going somewhere or just walking around. Therefore, perhaps a warmer option would be more appropriate, specially considering that’s where my preferences lie: I love my BL03. So Pandamon it is.
That said, I struggle to justify such a horrible faceplate hahahaha.
