I’ve never heard about them nor listened to them. Any indicator that made you think that :joy:?

Just received the Spotify data download. SV021 went through almost 65 hours of burn-in.

Absolutely Phoenix, it is suitable for more different music. And the appearance is more refined.

Thanks for all of the effort you’ve put into this and glad there’s some hope for a decent FR from these with time and use. I recently ordered a set and it looks like a long burn in will be mandatory. Luckily I’ve also got a balanced 2 x 2.5mm cable with 4.4mm Pentaconn termination for a certain DAP of mine, and it’s possible having a bit more current into these headphones will help.

I wanted an inexpensive closed back set but it never would have occurred to me to make sure they had lateral swivel in the cups so as to adjust to the conture of my head! I’ve got a larger head and small ears so maybe it won’t be as much of an issue. The only set I own that I can think of that doesn’t have this movement is a pair of Sennheiser RS116 wireless cans but they’re on-ear so you’re not looking for isolation.

I’ve seen a youtube review (I think it’s one of the Russian ones) where the guy manhandles the living F out of the band so they are definitely flexible and strong, just no apparent back and forth wiggle where the cup hardware joins the headband. Reminds me of buying a house and weeks later discovering that some of the doors close but don’t latch. The doors were set slightly off being able to actually fully catch the closing hardware on the door jamb. I mean, who checks for this? Live and learn.

True. Also, thank you for your kind words!

I don’t think I’ve come across a headphone with no swivel (horizontal rotation). I have the Direct Sound EXTW37 Pro, and I think that is the only headphone that doesn’t have any swivel. That headphone is one of my most enjoyable headphones sound-wise, but it truly kills it due to the lack of horizontal rotation. There is a significant loss of bass quantity and isolation.

I don’t know if I am the anomaly, but the human head is not a box. You cannot have a pair of ear-pads (headphones) lie flat on your head without any swivel. No, we do not need 180˚ of rotation, but it is crucial to have horizontal rotation.

I have no clue how I made this mistake numerous times… This whole time I am talking about the lack of horizontal rotation, not vertical * facepalm *

Finally in stock soon.
Black looks better than brown.

Gotta agree that the metal quality is simply ā€œout of this worldā€. It really is that good.

I saw Zeos flexing these inwards, so I’ll give that a try. Maybe I need to do that several dozen times a day (for a couple of days/weeks) to see if they will stay in that shape.

Feel like an outlier :sob:

Just placed an order for them. My god they look good in black…

Are they the right headphones for me? I’m looking for porable headphones to complement my KPH30i. I mostly listen to K pop and classical music. Other options would be Bose QC35ii (170€) or Grado Sr60x (130€)

No, KPH30i is better tuned…

So what would you recomment me to get then? I really like my KPh30i but want a bit more resolution soundstage and tighter bass

You will probably need to go up higher in terms of price. Like maybe the Sivga phoenix or the audio technica R70X…

But those aren’t portable enough. That’s why I’m looking for headphones like the SV021 and grados

Sivga Phoenix is very small, why do you think it’s not portable enough?

Also, if you are looking for a closed-back headphone, try searching for the Telefunken THP-29. The drivers come from Direct Sound, and I have the EXTW37 Pro from DS, they sound nuts. If you are out of luck and can’t get your hands on the THP29, try searching for the EX29 Plus from Direct Sound.

Many drummers use the THP-29, so it should be fairly easy to find them in music equipment stores.

They also have a black one if that helps

Yeah, I was going to mention that, also in his original review (that he links in this video and is well worth watching), with the goal of creating more clamping pressure, he contorts the frame in such an extreme way that you kind of hold your breath waiting for it to break…but it doesn’t. Recognizing the same thing you did, he also bends the ear cups laterally to try to get them to fit the head contours better.

Ooooh yeah. This gave me confidence.

I ripped into these and devoured them. No mercy.

It worked 100%. I ā€œdeformedā€ it to my taste.

THANK YOU!!! And thank you @ZeosPantera.
