I appreciate the work put into this. Very informative!

Great job! I really detest gaming with IEMs so Im not one to test it but for the ultra budget end of things I hear a lot of good things coming form the qkz VK4 and were lauded as one of the better gaming IEMs. have you tried them if so what do you think about them?

are the standard T2 worth it for gaming and phone use too… i wonder about it for my bro who has a switch

Since my little brother borrowed my set of T2s, he has been using it for his gaming sessions. Despite him not much of an audio-enthusiasts like us, he was able to notice the changes that he is hearing from the sounds that it emits, meaning he can pretty much take advantage in the game that he is playing by hearing the footsteps of the opposing players of the other team.

Not going to lie, I am a bit smug after him telling that to me and I think that’s a good starting point for him to get into high-fidelity audio in some time. But yeah, due to the T2s having a good amount soundstage and I have used it a lot of times, yes, it can be for gaming.

Also speaking about gaming, I am using my Starfields with my friends every time we play Phasmophobia during our free time. And, Jesus, the atmosphere, immersion and the sounds that you hear with those in your ears makes the game for me even scarier, and the Starfields have good soundstage like wew.

But what if you don’t play competitive games, going with my brother’s switch example… besides smash there aren’t any heavily competitive games and absolutely none that will need footstep detail… what is better for something like Zelda or Skyrim or Mario or even as a random idea, double dragon

I think it can be appealing to him even if he plays casual games, although most of the young kids or the younger crowd would prefer a V-shaped set of IEMs or something like the BLON BL03s in terms of sounds that they want to hear, for it is fun-sounding headphones are best well suited to their tastes.

Thank you!

I have not tried the t2s but I’m guessing it’s a similar story to the t2 pros since they seem very similar though I believe the t2 is only one DD so idk how Soundstage and sound changes

that’s true I wanted to add the bl03 but there was just no Soundstage and the bl05 was a similar story though I like them for music for gaming it’s just not my first choice

To me the BLONs soundstage are average, not as wide as the Starfields and T2s, but they get the job done. But the sounds you hear from those are just alive, to they are like Tin T2s in terms of the sound signature but they are being tuned to fun listening, while the T2s for me are for the chill and relax sessions.

I dotto having soundstage on my Blon 03. Imaging isn’t great, but I do get width and depth to some degree.

The thing is… the soundstage on the Blons is surprising. Like, not startling, but when things are played at the edges of sound, it surprises me that the Blons show that.

I think the issue with the Blons is that everything is kinda congested. The mids and the highs aren’t airy, kinda compressed, so they keep things feeling close (but not too close) until something soundstagey happens. If the top-end was more airy with a touch of sparkle, I think folks would rank them pretty high in terms of staging and imaging.

Then add to that, I feel Spinfits add some width to the overall scene.

Compared to the Fiio FH3, Blons have a wider stage but worse imaging. FH3 over Blons in shooters for sure, but just casual stuff where pin-point accuracy doesn’t matter and you just want to be enveloped in the game, I’d choose Blons.

have you tried the blessing 2’s for gaming? looking at the aria’s, blessing 2’s, fh7’s, and possibly the OH10’s for a game like Valorant

I used the Tin T2 for the longest time on my phone (Oneplus 5) and I have been using them on my Switch a lot. They’re great for gaming and on-the-go, more so because they’re near indestructible too. While I do enjoy my Moondrop Starfield more overall, they are IEM’s that I need to be more careful in handling, at least if I want to avoid chipping the paint (hasn’t happened so far). By far the best IEM I’ve used for gaming is the FiiO FD5. It has superb soundstage and impeccable imaging with really smooth transitions in the imaging too.

Out of the bunch, the T2 would be the best value and durability, with micro details closer to the FD5 than the Starfield. Starfield the best comfort and most balanced / laid back sound and just works for everything. FD5 the highest sound quality and best imaging with the best soundstage too, but the treble may be a bit too peaky for some depending on tips and music library.

I can attest to this, the soundstage and imaging on the FD5 is just unbelievable. It rivals full-sized headphones in terms of soundstage and offers a level of immersion unlike headphones or monitors. The precise imaging makes pin pointing things in game a breeze. Being able to change out the sound tube and tip roll really helps personalize the sound to your liking. They have made my headphones obsolete.

Another bonus, at least this time of summer with all the heat waves, they’re incredibly cool compared to full-size headphones. Your ears certainly don’t feel like they’re in a sauna. I can’t wear my LCD-2 in this heat or I’d be swimming after a few minutes with those giant leather pads.

Also helps block out the sound of the AC running :sweat_drops:

Which is the best for FPS games

hey, does starfield gives a clear footsteps sound for Tarkov? like so you can hear people who sneak up on you, and which IEM do you recommend for hearing such things? thanks

In terms of imaging, the Starfield works well enough and I have used mine while playing games with my friends such as Phasmophobia and indeed accurately reproduces the sounds of where the ghost is currently. But if you want an IEM similar to that but with more emphasis on soundstage, the Moondrop Aria is an alternative to the Starfield and more affordable.
