šŸ”¶ TANGZU x HBB Wu Heyday

After doing a bit more research checking out more written/vid reviews, just ordered a Link2 Bal dongle. Should arrive next week, looking forward to trying it out.

Exciting! What IEMs are you using? Significantly warm IEMs probably wonā€™t give you optimal sound synergy with the xDuoo, but it should still sound great as it sounds so expansive and powerful with everything I throw at it.

Hey! What about cable swapping? Somebody do this? Or stock cable is soooo goood?

Now I havenā€™t tried the Heyday myself yet, but some feel the Heyday is a bit dry in bass and lower mids & somewhat hot in the upper mids to lower treble.

I think it should be paired with a cable that accentuates bass/warmth. Probably a nice 7n OCC copper cable.

The only cable the Heyday needs is a 10,000,000 watt one that starts to make it sound fun IMHO!

I joke and was feeling spicy. The Heyday were not my preferred sound was too neutral boring for me. But if you want that signature then the Heyday might be for you.

Still I feel for half the price the KZ PR1PRO is very close with better bass and is the better buy.

Main rotation is HeyDay, EJ07M KL, UP and Olina just now, with OG Tea every so often. Iā€™ve also dug out my old LG V30 to test the dongle. Bootloader unlocked so going to root it and flash a custom rom as itā€™s on Oreo stock. Might just use it as DAP and offload the M3X.

Edit: need to see if V30 battery is still holding decent charge first.

Iā€™m getting my HeyDay (& Kahn!) in a few hours.
As I have listened more to the Link2Bal, I have a few more words to share about it.
It presents music very up-front. It magnifies the size of notes to be huge. This dongle has exceptional spaciousness and height. It is capable of depicting great width yes, but mostly itā€™s the spacious quality in tandem with that ability that is most impressive. Notes propagate, the notes spill out its contents and fills the space like an egg being cracked.

Notes play BIG and intimate, like having a facemask of sound wrapped around your face. So wait a minute, itā€™s intimate yet wide? Yes, it plays close to your face, yet it echoes outwards from your face to infinity. This is the opposite of analytical, it can be a bit disorienting but this is what lends it this immersive fun quality. I love it. This is how music should be enjoyed imho.

Anyway, I will be using the Link2Bal with Heyday very soon and report back with impressions and if they synergize well together

Very interested to hear your take on that combo!

I beginning to realise that Iā€™m very sensitive to planar treble.
Not that the HeyDay is very trebly, it isnā€™t. Itā€™s just planar treble that takes a bit of work.

In order to hit my treble sweet spot however, I require foam tips.

Unfortunately, I am a silicon tip guy only so I donā€™t think this set will work for me purely based on that.
Itā€™s a shame because there is a lot of positive things to say about it otherwise. Bass is super distinct and clean, just as reported. Itā€™s very high resolution and sounds fantastic. So yeah, I am bummed but I will have to let it go.

Anyone interested in it for $189? I will throw in this $59, 4.4mm 2-pin copper cable for free

DM me!

Interesting, between S12,Ttimeless and PR1 Pro, Heyday has the most inoffensive planar treble IMHO. I couldnā€™t tolerate S12 even with foam tips. PR1 Pro with foams is good. Heyday is almost perfect with silicone balanced tips. Everybodyā€™s ears are so different!

Yes. Iā€™m shocked that this is the case. I was so ready to bask in gentle planar treble. Specifically, itā€™s the not so dipped 4-6kHz region that is causing me trouble, probably along with and accentuated by the somewhat leaner bass.

Oh well, some guy in Puerto Rico is going to hopefully be happy.

He makes a good point about tips. Maybe people that got strange or narrow soundstage are not getting a proper fit. :person_shrugging:t2:

No doubt. lotta people including myself sometimes have to tip rollā€¦for ONE side
For me it is left side.
I never have probs on right but sometimes i gotta roll on my left to get a good seal.
I thought my left ear was wasted from head kicks in Kick Boxing but lotta regular folks have same probs.
Sometimes it is just pref
or Q.C.
Or a seal (tips)
And sometimesā€¦just on 1 side

Exactly same boat as you Chris!

Sometimes I Use one size smaller on left because of fit.

Same, smaller on left. Cp100 always fine or right :upside_down_face:

You rocking that cauliflower ear, brother?!

Anyone on the street that rocks a vegetable for an ear is a dangerous man - avoid at all cost :joy:

Pretty sure thatā€™s a photo of me and Panda taken Friday night. @Rcayn as GooberBM mentioned you should try the P1 Max. Assuming youā€™re not ready to give up on planar. I was about there and then the Panda swooped me in with gentle love and soft touches in comparison to other planars.
