Thank you so much!
Amazed on your story! I ordered Double Impact 2days ago, but considering to change to Tekton 2-10 perfect SET. I am living in an apartment and I am not keen on big bass, just want to enjoy music. I don’t want to disturb my neighbours. What’s your opinion on which is more suit me? How’s your Double Impact for low level listening?
And what’s your opinion on Beryllium driver? Is it worth to upgrade?
The bass isn’t over powering unless you use tone controls or EQ to increase it. They are definitely full range though so you get plenty of low end if you want it. You can always take away some if you want to. Also you can get some gear with a high pass filter so that you can drop the sub bass if you don’t wanna shake the house. Parasound has great bass management. As far as beryllium tweeters go, I don’t have any experience. I got the regular silk dome. They are very smooth, not much sparkle. So if you like bright high end then the beryllium tweeters would probably be nice.
And I haven’t really done any low level listening. I like loud music way too much. Also welcome to HiFi Guides!!
They hired some noob who’s not paying attention. Damn noobs.
It’s probably not worth it, but me and my ocd… Fifteen minutes to repair! I bet taking off the bottom woofer you’d be able to reach to the back, unbolt the Cardass binding post connector > flip the assembly > tighten back up > replace woofer. All the tools you’d need are a screw driver and the right sized open end wrench.
Don’t give my OCD ideas! I don’t even want to attempt. Especially since I have no experience with audio gear yet.
Smart man, leave well enough as is, why welcome complications? I still haven’t learned that lesson. lol
Alright time to share my thoughts on these beasts. I do not do any critical listening, I just listen to my favorite music and see how much I enjoy it. Music that I used is mostly metalcore and a little electronic.
Imaging and Soundstage
I get a great center image with vocals. Left to right imaging seems fine, not something I really look for. I mainly look for great soundstage. These speakers project a wall of sound that is huge and just so so good. They disappear really well given their size. Off axis performance is stellar. I can walk way off axis (45 degrees plus) and they sound almost the same as on axis. I can also walk down my hallway and it sounds like the speakers are following me. They somehow project sound throughout my whole house very well. Exceptional off axis performance.
Bass
So I am a basshead, growing up with subs in my cars since high school listening to rap. I was hoping that these speakers would deliver. And boy do they. Without tone controls they are lacking so I have to bump up the bass on my Parasound P6, but I was expecting that. The best part is the perfect slide from upper bass to lower bass. No sub integration to worry about which is so nice. Even when listening to electronic music with heavy thump I found these able to perform just fine. If you are looking at these for HT then you will want subs most likely, but for music these are perfect.
Midrange
Perfect. The tonality of instruments and vocals are perfect. Everything sounds exactly as it should. Absolutley amazing.
Treble
Soooo smooooooth. Not much sparkle, but not something I look for. The tweeter array works so well dispersing sound evenly throughout my large room.
Final Thoughts
I am constantly finding myself shaking my head in disbelief at how great these speakers sound. Truly endgame worthy, no doubt. I don’t feel the want to improve anything. Even when I blast them at loud listening levels they don’t fall apart. They keep great separation. I got the SE version, but the regular version should sound just as good. So if you are in the market for a full range sound in the $3-5k range then you have to put these on your list for consideration.
At the end of the day I look for a system that can blast metal at loud volumes without falling apart, bass authority, and project a wall of sound. These are perfect in that regard.
Glamour shots the monitor, gear, room treatment. Great example of a modern HIFI system.
Are the grass plants real? They look like an excellent way to diffuse some of the early reflections although given the room treatment and the way the walls angle, they’re just working as insurance. I’m glad things came together for you! You were chasing it for a bit but the planning is evident in the outcome.
Kudos man!
If they were, they would probably be dead by now…
Thoughts on buying this? Does this price and being an early serial # cause any concerns?
Reach out to Ron he responds to a great deal of questions on his live stream and possibly would even setup a call with you for a small fee.
The only downside to such a low s/n will be the off axis polar response that is talked about in Zero Fidelity’s YouTube review. Eric at Tekton even made a video on the update he made to them.
I got mine sounding so good that I don’t even want to bother with moving them around inch by inch. I listened to them for about 5hrs yesterday and man do they sound absolutely amazing. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
A couple questions:
Have you tried multiple amps pairing including solid state and tubes?
If so what were your favorite pairings and what are you using now?
Have you tried the DI in a smaller room and or pushed into a corner? If so did it kill the staging and performance?
I have only used them with my current Parasound amp, however they say Tektons like tubes. I have not tried them in a small room, only my large living room. I have them about 20in from the corners next to my fireplace. They give off a wall of sound.
