TH-X00/TR-X00/E-MU Teak/Denon biodynamic general discussion

Maybe you should try the Ori cowhide pads. They have more warmth/low-end than the lambskin or hybrid so they might hit a sweet spot for you without attenuation rings.

Edit: I also find the material very comfortable for long periods of time.

What pads would give me a slightly more neutral sound signature on my Emu Teaks?

Compared to stock pads, the lambskin or hybrid Ori pads without attenuation rings might do the trick. If you are already using pads like that, Lawton pads might work, either with it without attenuation rings.

Can anyone link where can i buy some mounting ring for fostex X00 pads? I just like swapping my pads a lot lol

These are what I ordered - they fit my TH610 and TH900/909 - not sure about the 00’s

So the TR-X00 mahogany is back but at $100 more

Is it just me or at that price other things just seem like a better purchase?

Hello,
Good news for the one.
Drop sell the Fostex Mahagony again, here the Link, have fun.
A good chance for the people who want it.Good luck

Well that didn’t last long.

Also I forgot what a shit show the drop discussion sections are. It seems like the only people who use them are people who hate drop and everything it does, but still use the service.

Maybe it’s not too late, my x00 exploded as well about a month ago. I actually contacted e-mu and asked them if they are willing to sell me the hardware and they agreed. I got whole new hardware aside from the wood cups for 200$.
Btw. i literally just created an account and just saw your comment and had to reply.
Anyways. I’m also looking to upgrade my x00 cups, any recommended ones? i do like the sound of the mahogany i have. only thing i did was getting a sheepskin dekoni pads with attenuation pads. oh, and a detachable cable mod

THANK YOU! I tried doing a repair of my own but it did not go so well lol. I’ll have to contact EMU this week.

Hello,
I have buy the Rosewood cups from Emu and find it very well.
Better as the Mahagony Cups.

A lot of people like the Lawton cups. I haven’t tried them but have heard good things about them.

to the owners of this headphone, can you give me the interior measurements (of the hole) of the original pads because I bought some on aliexpress (pads for denon ah d or fostex th) and it seems to me that the holes are bigger and change slightly the sound, I no longer have the original pads thank you

About 55mm tall and 35mm wide.

Ok, thanks for the answer. except at e’mu directly, do you know where we can buy it thank you

For the E-MU and X00 style pads, I don’t know where to get them other than E-MU directly, sorry.

If your willing to try though, I found these pads were very similar sounding compared to stock but a bit more comfortable.

Or you could just jump down the rabbit hole and do a full Lawton mod so you can use ZMF pads like I did, lol.

I just bumped into these very cheap pads - it’s $10 incl. shipping for me. Anyhow, if this can help anyone (and maybe you get a $1 off and I get a $1 off, or just choose the right poison and shop directly.

so, my pair of TH-X00 Mahogany arrived today and I had a quick listen - not bad, not bad indeed. one thing right off the bat though - the stock pads seems to be smallish for me. it seems that my left ear is slightly bigger than my right one, I have to readjust the HD650 on my head every once in a while as it becomes slightly uncomfortable in the left year, so now I have this confirmed. with TH-X00 my right ear fits into the slit more or less well, but my left ear ends up in an almost ‘on-ear’ setup and feels a bit uncomfortable. I guess I need pads with larger holes in them. for reference, I have Alpha Dog pads on my Verums, and these are spot on. I am reading good things about Ori lambskin pads, they seem to have bigger holes - anyone had experience similar to mine? I do not mind losing a bit of bass.

Think the the 900 pads have a bigger opening if i remember correctly, i for myself like the ones from dekoni

yeah, just to add - I understand that Lawton is also an option, but as I understand using these pads will also entail using the tune-up kit, and I am not ready to ‘go down the rabbit hole’ as @ATK aptly put it. I just want more comfortable pads and am ready for a bit of a trade-off in the bass department, and then off to enjoying my new headphones
